I have ROCD and spent so much time asking these same questions when I first started. The important thing to remember for me is that ROCD doesn’t necessarily make you hallucinate that you do or don’t love your partner. Everybody has some doubts about their relationship. What ROCD does is make you get stuck on the doubt and you can’t accept the uncertainty. So if you have ROCD, it may or may not be true that you love your partner or need to break up. But your biggest problem is you can’t seem to think straight because you’re so anxious about the fact that you can’t be 100% sure. The way that you “know it’s ROCD” is that you are going back and forth and back and forth and back and forth questioning and worrying like crazy. People without OCD who want to break up with their partner don’t really do that. So the first thing you need to do is address your OCD and try to get help letting go of all that questioning. So during that period of time you would try to live in the moment in the relationship while you work on your OCD, and trust that you don’t need to “figure out” about breaking up right now.
