i’d say you need to trust the fact the reason you are having these intrusive thoughts, feelings, urges and doubts is because you have OCD; someone without OCD wouldn’t be going through what you are right now. now that you’ve accepted this, you need to trust that you can handle whatever OCD throws at you and trust that in order to eliminate your fears, you must expose yourself and then bravely embrace, tolerate, accept and feast on the doubt, uncertainty and discomfort behind your fears, without enacting compulsions to instantly relieve the anxiety & distress.
@the_uncertainty_accepter Technically, I have not been diagnosed with OCD, I just feel strongly that my symptoms pretty much fall under OCD (depression and anxiety may be factors but OCD right now I think is a big one). How can I do the first step you’ve mentioned?
it’s all about trust; trust that you are accurate in your self diagnosis. there is no certainty in trust, just as there is no certainty in an official diagnosis; they still could have given you a misdiagnosis. there is no certainty in this world and once we’re able to accept this fully, then OCD retreat.
