Most likely because you weren’t giving it attention and then you were, so it picks back up.

The brain is really just trying to ask you "are we okay with this thought?" "Is this still a threat?" And more often than not that'll happen in times where we want to be at peace. Like on a vacation or some other event where we want to be carefree. The brain really wants you to enjoy your peace, so it is trying to check if everything is okay and that there isn't danger. Though it seems like the brain is sabotaging, it's more like its just trying really hard to scan for danger and protect you. In those moments, I think it's important to accept that signal and say to the brain, thanks for reminding me and trying to keep me safe but i'm going to disregard this signal and go forward with my day.
