HOCD
Anyone here a parent that suffers from HOCD and has children? How do you cope with the intrusive thoughts?

Even when the thoughts are absolutely the worst. I know in my heart and soul that would never cause harm to ones I love. One day at a time.
I suffered from Harm OCD that targeted my children. It’s scary and it sucks. One of the first thing my therapist said was to be non-chalant towards the thoughts. For example, I would get a thought that would be like “you’re gonna harm your children” and I would be like “thanks ocd, totally wanna do that. Maybe after I’ll drown the town”. I know it’s scary and stuff. It won’t ever stop the thoughts, but you’ll gradually get less scared of them. Keep up the good fight.
Yup! I'm very sarcastic with it as well! I even roll my eyes. At first it was hard dealing with it like that but then it gets better. Especially when you know deep down that the thoughts are far fetched!
@w00dstok This is a very interesting way of responding to your ocd & I might try it too!
