Question. How can “oh well, guess I’ll never know” and “your ocd is a big bully who is lying to you” both be response prevention? They seem in conflict. Thank you, sending strength to all you warriors out there.
It just depends on the person and how you want to go about the OCD process. Some people look at OCD as a toddler acting out, some see it is a bully, some name it and make it “different” than themselves, and others go down the acceptance route in that it’s part of you but that doesn’t mean you pay any attention to it.

I’m of the mindset to never reply to it because that can become a compulsion very fast for a lot of people, but for some people, they can reply to it.
Sometimes a maybe maybe not approach works for me. Other times saying OCD is a bully helps me. Whatever works at helping you not give in to the OCD is a good tool for your OCD tool box.
