Yes. All the time
I often experience that. I'm afraid I don't have much useful advice, other than to find an engaging distraction. Games, either board or video-based, are very helpful in that regard.
Writing out your thoughts may help too, although I have concerns that writing could become a compulsion itself with enough repetition
