I was told by someone else that it is possible but to be honest I’m not entirely sure how to go about that. Maybe you can join some of the support groups and find out there or ask on the nocd live streams! Hope all goes well!
Yes and no. It’s always better to get started with a therapist because it’s really confusing at the start, but the thing about ERP is that after you get going with a therapist you can self treat. It’s really different from other forms of therapy where there isn’t a clear end date in mind. In OCD therapy, you learn a set of tools and then implement them yourself
expose yourself to what you are afraid of and say maybe you’d do that maybe you wouldn’t do that
& dismiss the thought
I would not recommend it. ERP is tough. Especially when you are first starting out. You may also try doing too much to soon. I did my first official ERP session with my therapist yesterday. I was glad she was on the phone with me. I would recommend doing all least 2 or 3 sessions with a therapist. Then if you feel confident and like you are making progress, you can do ERP yourself.
