Hi Newbaby2020$, for me it has been using ERP, the same as my other sub-types. These are just my experiences and mainly deal with events that I either caused or helped cause, so your results may vary. The hardest part for me has been forgiving myself, even though others have, and just letting it go. The main thing I try to remind myself is that no amount of worrying or ruminating will ever change the past, so focus on the now, because that’s what I can affect. Granted it’s easier for me to say than to follow sometimes, especially because some of my events are so recent. It can be tricky with memories from years past because they can get borderline false memory-ish because the more I would think about them the more distorted they would get over time to the point of questioning if they ever even occurred. I tend to be worst critic (well aside from my OCD bully) which hasn’t helped with recovery. Also, be open and honest with your therapist about the real events that your OCD has latched onto, otherwise they won’t be able to fully help and guide you to the right ERP exercises you need. ERP has certainly helped me a lot. Feel free to ask any questions you like. I’m no therapist, but I’ll help in any way I can. Hang in there and best wishes.
