Mindfulness is highly suggested for most people, especially for people with mental illnesses. Why do you want to not do it anymore?

because i've seen on the internet that it also has disadvantages, but i know that i shouldn't believe everything that comes on the internet, also my psychologist told me that mindfulness is very good for my ocd

@g00dbye angels Everything has disadvantages and can be used negatively. And a lot of people don’t practice mindfulness or meditation correctly and instead use it as a crutch, which only makes things worse.

Unfortunately, those who are suggesting it aren’t always aware of the negative side effects which can be very debilitating. People with OCD can have a heightened sense of somatic symptoms, depersonalization, derealization, increased existential themes, etc. i say this from personal experience after 10+ years of dedicated mindfulness/meditation experience. I have several friends with various diagnoses including OCD, GAD, and BiPolar 1, all having experienced severe negative effects from their meditation practice. Please take a moment to visit the following website with resources for meditators in distress and familiarize yourself with the potential adverse effects and read the stories of those who have experienced them. https://www.cheetahhouse.org/ This is not to say that everyone will experience these states but it seems that we are predisposed and must proceed carefully.

I personally don't get much benefit from mindfulness.

I was practicing mindfulness for a little bit and then I just started to relax and just kind of take in just the sensations and sounds around me and I just felt good. I almost wanted to cry.

Often I listen to podcasts or audiobooks. Sometimes fiction, sometimes about ocd or anxiety. I did this before i got so consumed with ocd again. But no i am doubting myself if i do this to distract myself. I do it while doing chores or when I put on my make-up for example. And I have to admit it helps me to get distracted from my thoughts. How do you know when you do it to distract your thoughts (as a compulsion) or just because you like it? When do you know it is helpfull or not?

For a while now, I've been having trouble concentrating... especially when studying... so I'd play the sound of rain or a forest or something similar to distract myself, and when I'd finish and turn it off... a pile of thoughts would come back to me as if they'd piled up on me!!! Anxiety, rituals... what should I do?
