Thank you for your reply. That's really encouraging! I want her to have a chance at some peace and happiness but I know how bad she has been for so long, I didnt want to make thing worse if it wasnt possible for her to recover or have a big improvement now.

I am in my mid 40s. I started having intrusive thoughts around age 8. OCD was never even on my radar until a few months ago. I listened to a podcast (non mental health related) where A guest shared her story about living with OCD. I was shocked to realize I could relate. It was only after I started researching OCD and the various subtypes. Prior to that, I thought OCD was handwashing and liking things neat and organized. Neither applied to me. I also had no idea what I was experiencing wasn't normal. I thought everyone struggled the way I did. I was diagnosed in August 2021 at age 45. I lived for 37 years with untreated OCD. I started therapy and ERP right away. I had done years of therapy, but never made any progress. ERP has been life changing for me. ERP is hard and terrifying, but it works. It is NEVER to late to start.
