Sounds like you have a lot going on like myself. My fucked up situation started with finding my wife after a suicide attempt and my year just went down from there that year. I use NOCD for therapy.

Sorry to hear! Mine started during Covid last year - long story but it was like one thing after another and it started with me misplacing my car keys which I perseverated on. I also watched a lot of CNN and researched Covid etc. which I realized now was actually affecting my subconscious. All in all I kept ruminating until I became more anxious, took Lexapro for anxiety and had to stop because of side effects then depression kicked in from circumstances and perhaps the med.

@Anonymous How’s the therapy helping you?

@Anonymous Yeah it has. Not sure where I’d be without it.

Yeah this has happened to me. It’s part of anxiety. Insomnia can be caused by anxiety. I take an over the counter sleeping aid if I need to some nights

Yes but it’s the random thoughts and hearing myself think is what I’m worried about. I should Probably not overthink it as it could very well be that I’m half asleep half awake

@Anonymous Yeah I get random thoughts too. I would worry like you said. You could count backwards from 200 until you fall back asleep I do this sometimes as well

@Anonymous I’ve experienced this!!! It’s the worst. How did you get over it?

I feel like I have to mentally review what happened this morning and write it down!

Seems like that is a compulsion, right

@Dre83 Yup

@Anonymous I understand. Try to push through without doing them if you can but if you slip up allow yourself some grace as you’re only human

It’s like an itch in the head and I start to question my intellect. I also have depression. What do you do? Do you distract yourself then?
- Date posted
- 3y
Yeah distraction can be a big help but also leaning into the thoughts and using my erp that I’ve learned. I also meditate, journal and exercise regularly.

@Dre83 Do you take meds? I do but it’s not 100%

@Anonymous That’s funny you asked. I’ve considered them before and actually meet with a doctor on Monday and he prescribed me Luvox but I still feel torn about taking them. I’ve been having a really good week this week. And them not being 100% makes me think I can just handle this with the therapy tools

@Anonymous Which one do you take?

@Dre83 Zoloft 100mg. I took Luvox but for a couple of months. It wasn’t helping much with my depression and ocd. To each his own though. If I can do it over, I would have just gone through natural means.

@Anonymous Awe I’m sorry. My wife is on Zoloft too she has major depression disorder. Gosh see it really makes me question if meds help. I want the thoughts to disappear forever lol. I’ve read so much on the medication which probably isn’t a good thing.

@Anonymous So do you feel as if you have to stay on medication? Are you in therapy as well?

@Anonymous Also there were times when I felt like so energized upon waking up like I could bounce of walls. It was weird.

@Dre83 Yes both. I would I hate to be in meds forever. I’m trying to work on my mindset but it’s been challenging! People tell me I’m too smart for my own good. Come to think of it, ocd worked for me with my career - very focused, solution driven when I realized that was my ocd all along. Then I ruminated a lot during Covid over stupid things and I developed anxiety and depression. I should have not taken meds in the first place.

@Anonymous Ocd flared for some reason and I want to be able to manage it.

@Anonymous Is this from the Zoloft? It says Zoloft Is more or an engergizer compared to Luvox which makes you more tired.

What theme do you struggle with? I have harm personally and it sucks lol. There are people who actually think and act on shit that goes through my head and that makes it scarier

That’s tough. A therapist told me I have pure O. Not knowing this before I thought I just tend to overthink and overanalyze and have big imagination. After I was diagnosed this year, I think I became more focused on my thoughts and the intrusive thoughts came and I’ve been in my head a lot. It makes me so sad and angry because before all this my life was happiest and my career was excellent. There was really no reason for me to be depressed and anxious but anxiety and overthinking grew to a situation where it became difficult to let it go.

Any one else deal with this? Like from the moment they wake up to the second they fall asleep, the intrusive thoughts are there?

I feel like it’s just me. But at night when I start to fall asleep, play on my phone, or watch TV; I’ll get major intrusive thoughts and a butt load of anxiety. Has anyone felt the same about this? How have you managed it? It’s getting exhausting and even causes me to sleep-less.
