Yes, that’s definitely a reality most people struggling doesn’t understand needs to be accepted before recovery. A lot of people think OCD can be cured and they’ll never have to deal with it again sfter therapy, but that’s just not the case and that idea really messes up your life/recovery.
Also just wanted to mention, full recovery is possible. I have reached recovery multiple times where all intrusive thoughts don’t bother me at all really anymore.
Yes I think even though it feels like we have no control, we are often “doing” something such as ruminating and we have to take responsibility for it in order to change it.
