Meds
Does anyone have any positive experiences with meds? I’m wanting to start them but I only hear bad things about them.

I’ve been on medication for a year and a half. That with the combination of therapy has so far gotten me to 80-90% remission. I think medication gets a bad wrap as it really doesn’t solve the root of the problem. It’s more like a bandaid that will help protect you and make your think more clearly
Medication has really helped me in my journey with ocd. It really helps my mood and ability to understand my ocd and sit with the intrusive thoughts. Meds along with therapy can change your life. I’m so sorry you are feeling this way but I’m glad you are taking the big step into getting ERP. It gets better from here I promise. :)
Thank you for responding! If you don’t mind me asking what meds are you on? And how long did they take to work?
@Anonymous I am on sertrilene (Zoloft). It took probably about over a month for me to really feel any effect but that is different for each person!
@Anonymous Lexapro and it took about a month to feel symptom relief I also had great response from Celexa
I have, I was on medication for the last 8 years, truly alleviated my symptoms. With that being said it came with draw backs, expample weight gain…& other things. I recommend reviewing the withdrawal symptoms before trying anything new and sometimes it is trial and error with finding the best one for you, so keeping a journal of symptoms and tracking symptom I found helpful. I say its worth a try
Did it help lessen your intrusive thoughts?
@Anonymous yes I barely had them and if I did it was super easy to move forward from them
@new44 Thanks for sharing. If you don’t mind me asking which medication were you on?
Im sorry if this triggers anyone, but im falling apart i feel like. I start erp session this satruday @ my ocd has been around death. At this point, i dont even qqnt to do anything, cause every momwnt my mind say you will die whats the point, in typing.this, therpy, somewhat living. If medication can help calm thqt down im willing yo try
My theme is around death too. Sending love to you, I know how hard it is. We will get through this! ❤️
Yeah I am on week 3 of sertraline, I started for the ocd, anxiety and depression and I feel a lot better. I have less anxiety over intrusive thoughts and I can let them go easier and I'm not ruminating and my social anxiety got a lot better too already. I did notice some ocd themes getting worse though but I think they will get better because I feel so much better overall
Does it help your depression as well?
@Anonymous Eh not much yet
@Anonymous Yes it did but a side affect for me was it made me tired and I needed to nap most days
I have been wanting to medicate for my ocd, anxiety, and depression for a while so thank you for sharing because I am still hesitant but glad to hear from people who have done it already. I was wondering how drastic of a chang it was. Like was it very gradual or was it like a very noticeable, quick, distinct change. Have a great day or night💕💕💕
I have never been in meds but my best friend who also has OCD has had great results with her meds. I was truly astonished by the results of it. Btw she is doing therapy as well for her OCD. Anyway she is on fluoxetine. Not sure about the details but yeah. Even after hearing about all these great results I am still hesitant to use meds. Anyone else?
I was too, it is ok to feel that way it makes sense it is change and unknown. Everyone has different experiences/reactions to meditation, so I went into the experience with the mindset of it being a journey. It isn’t linear it took time for me to find the right medication and dosage. For me when I found the right dose/med it worked great.
How did you get rhat at first i can find a doctor near me
Hi everyone, I’m 23 and have been on Zoloft since I was 16. For the past couple months I’ve been having panic attacks more and I’m sick of feeling like a zombie everyday. My boyfriend said I’m very sad and unhappy then when I first met him 2 years ago…. He thinks it’s the medicine. Throughout the years I have upped and lowered my medication, but now, I feel as though it’s not helping. Either it was too much where I didn’t feel emotions at all like very scary stuff or it wasn’t enough to help me. I was given 5mg of Lexapro to try…. I’m scared to take it. All I know is how Zoloft is. I don’t want to go crazy on it, be allergic to it, etc. I feel like I’m going to trip myself out when I take it and not actually feel the difference. I could really use some positive feedback I really just want to be a normal human😭
I understand that everyone is different but lately I have been debating on medication just because of past experiences but does anyone have any good experiences with medication that has helped them with their OCD as well as therapy or treatment? As of now I’m dealing with it by myself but it feels like it may be getting worse
I just got my SSRI’s and I’m kinda nervous to take them so I was wondering if anyone has had a good or bad experience with them.
