Hi fellow warriors šIām sure itās different for everyone but I would love to hear about your experiences on birth control, Iām thinking either the pill or an iud. Did it worsen your ocd? I had a baby two years ago and am in no place to have another right now, and I want something a little more reliable than a diaphragm. Thanks for sharing anything youāre comfortable with.
I had crazy depression the first couple of weeks and then it leveled off. I felt kind of flat on them... kind of like antidepressants. When I got off them it took over a year for my body and mind to readjust

Iāve been on birth control since 2012 abs havenāt had any issues. But I found the best pill for me and Iām glad for that.

Coming off the pill is what spiked my anxiety which I had not experienced for almost 10years after my second Iāve had the copper coil, itās hormone free so all the feelings I get are all me which I like. I do mainly struggle around my period which I probably would anyway so some months are good some months are not, my periods can be heavier some months too but other then that itās fine.
Iāve heard good and bad things about the copper. Seems like youāre happy with it?
@Meredith I am happy with it simple because I know any anxiety or symptoms with ocd are all down to my own hormones not the synthetic hormones because of the contraceptive and I can work to solving it in a way that works for me, also I donāt have to worry about forgetting to take it or anything which is a bonus
I have the copper iud to avoid hormones potentially making my ocd worse.
How are you feeling?
I use the Nexplanon arm implant and Iām not 100% sure if it is affecting my OCD or not. Unfortunately since I had it implanted Iāve had a lot of other medication changes so itās really hard to know whatās causing my flareups. I will say that for the first year and a half I was on the implant I had no periods and then for the past three or four months the periods have started back up again and I seem to have really intense OCD flareups around the start of my period, which I either didnāt have or never quite noticed before because I wasnāt actually getting periods. So I guess the jury is still out on the effects of the implant for meā¦ kind of frustrating though that I enjoyed a good year and a half of no periods and then they started showing up again while the implant still supposedly has a whole year left of working before I have to get it switched out. From what I read about the implant in particular its affects on your cycle can vary from person to person greatly and sometimes even change within the three years you have it implanted. So Iām living proof of that, I guess. But other than that Iāve had no issues with it and it works pretty well for me.

Iām very happy with it. The only side effect was that my cramps were a bit more painful. But it was worth it in my opinion.
Please if someone can reply! I really just need someone to talk to. I donāt even know how to control my OCD. It honestly feels like itās controlling me. Everyday my mind focuses on every bodily sensation I have and itās like a broken record player, I have horrible health anxiety and my OCD just makes it worst just thinking about it everyday. It feels like everyone who I explain it to looks at me like Iām stupid/crazy. I use to be much more tame with my OCD, I use to eat things without worry, now I canāt even touch things I use to eat without worrying that Iāll get an allergic reaction (despite eating them BEFORE,,,but my mind tells me otherwise) and omg worrying about heart attacks, pulmonary issues..and I couldnāt even enjoy my own childās birth because my mind was on high alert thinking I would hemorrhage any second or develop pre-E (complications of postpartum) I was miserable for the first couple of months of my babyās life and I didnāt know what to do. And now, Iām pregnant with my second (4wks) and all the OCD thoughts and anxiety is coming back at me and I have no one to talk to, I feel lonely. And even if I considered taking a pill, Iād worry about being allergic to it and refusing to take it. I ruin everything for everyone. I remember I ate out one night and I started to think āyouāre gonna pass out! Youāre gonna pass out! (Without ever passing out before) and I had to leave! I feel like I ruin the mood for everyone when I donāt even try to, and I hate it.
Can people please share their experiences on very low dose medications for their OCD? Maybe ones that have worked well with little side effects? Anything is helpful & thank you
I just wanted to ask any mothers their experience with having children & the positive experiences theyāve had despite their diagnosis (even the small moments of joy)? I have always yearned to have children & grow a family however recently OCD has made me question this desire (though when Iām back to thinking rationally my heart knows Iām meant for motherhood). though Iām not oblivious to how difficult it must be, I thought it would be nice to see the good amongst the bad, not just for me but for anyone else feeling a similar way š«¶š¼
