First off I want to say that you should always seek medical advice from your doctor/prescriber and not base your decisions based on anyone else but you and them. And I want to say that medication for the treatment of OCD can be incredibly helpful, along with ERP with a specialist in OCD the two can be highly successful in treating OCD. Some people do just ERP and some people do a combination- it is unique to each individual. I, personally have relied on both- ERP skills and my medication. For me, I view my OCD very much as I would any other medical issue- something is not working properly n my brain and I need to do certain things to help it out.
Did it help with your thoughts? The medicine
I was on 50mg for a month and it helped so much with both ocd and anxiety. I had very little side effects but I had to stop because it turned out I was allergic, which is super rare and I was fine, just itchy.
So it helped with your intrusive thoughts?
@Anonymous Yeah it helped a lot
Me! Zoloft 50mg first, then 100 and now 150mg / day. At 50/100 mg had zero help, since I started with 150mg it helped me a lot! I have only intrusive thoughts and ruminating days in stressful period now, if I don't sleep well I can start ruminating like at this moment, but usually it is going better, zoloft did a lot for me. Now is almost a year I'm on zoloft, still continuing because it's not a definitive cure and you still have to take it for long time. I don't know if it's forever or not, but for sure some years.
Does anyone take Zoloft . I have the medication with me but I’m just to scare to start it. Does it actually really help with ocd/anxiety?
Hi there! I’ve just recently received my OCD diagnosis and found out that I’ve just been raw-dogging OCD since I was a young child. Im considering taking medication to help me and my therapist suggested Zoloft. Has anyone taken Zoloft for OCD/anxiety? Any side effects that I would want to be aware of from personal experience? Thanks !!
