I agree with this, not to mention that religious topics can be very triggering to some people (myself included)

This is a platform where you can share your opinion and experience with OCD freely, if you want to share your opinion that God doesn’t exist.. go right ahead..just like if i wanted to share how God had helped me through this experience then I will. Who are you to say that I can’t and who am I to say you can’t voice yours? This isn’t coming from a place of hate or anger just being honest.

I'm not even sure, if anyone flying off their handle in this threat actually read what that person said, here are some excerpts: "... I know the truth and I'm determined for others to know the truth... OCD exists because in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth... Long story short Adam and Eve chose against God, and that's when all the bad things like... OCD... is because Satan hates us... And when we chose against God in the beginning we chose the opposite of God even if you didn't realize it, choosing against God is choosing the opposite which is Satan... So what that means for us is when we choose God and repent of our sins we can actually be in perfect relationship again and that means we get to be on this beautiful journey of healing with God..." ^ Well, in my opinion, that is preaching and speaking of an universal truth and promising healing. I still find it in considerate and actually dangerous. A struggling person might stop taking their medication and/or might stop going to therapy, because they hope for getting healed by God. I referred to the post I quote from. If some people say - God bless you - that's not preaching...

I am an agnostic and do not believe in a conventional God; however, I am inclined to disagree with you. For myself and for many others, healing and love are separate topics from religion, but for someone with a professed faith, these ideas are interconnected. I have indeed seen some individuals pushing their faith onto others, (e.g., "you need to believe in Christ and he will heal you" and stuff like that), but these commenters seem to be in the minority. Most of the remarks are stuff like, "God bless you all" or "God loves all of us". Frankly, I don't regard that as preaching, nor do I see how it is offensive; it is their way of expressing affection and support for the community. To them, God is love and ergo, to praise God is to praise love. Problems with religion occur in public spaces when said religion is giving rise to exclusion and/or bigotry. This is why staff-led prayer in schools is a big no-no; it alienates children who do not share the belief and can make them feel pressured to participate in something they may not want to. In online forums like these, that isn't really a problem because none of us are being put on the spot, and we can choose how and when we participate in threads. If a post doesn't resonate with you, you can simply keep scrolling. I think it is also worth noting that an individual saying "God loves everyone" might be a mild trigger for someone, but it isn't all that likely to cause dozens of relapses. On the other hand, you proclaiming that God isn't real is much more likely to cause someone to spiral; these two situations are not equivalent in their consequences, so comparing them as if they were is misleading. Having said all of this, I can nonetheless understand where Enimouse is coming from; religious topics are triggering for some of us in this community even if they are affirmative in nature. Those making posts of a religious nature ought to tag them with trigger warnings (for religious/scrupulosity OCD) even if they are uplifting or affirmative. That way, those with religious themes can take note ahead of time, which will keep the community healthy and safe.

I don’t want to condemn another humans belief; because just as much as “God” gave us “free will” (prochoice) he also gave us the tools needed to handle life on all levels accordingly. Which doesn’t limit us to only seeking healing from “God”, but a boundary definitely needs to be drawn here, and I support this post so much for that. Stop shoving religion down peoples throats. We will seek you out if we wanted to know.

Hey guys, hold your horses. I said, IF I SAID I know the truth and the truth is that God doesn't exist... (The IF I SAID part is crucial here!!!). I just wanted to express, if I had voiced my believes as strongly as that person has done, I would have gotten a sh--- storm... But that other person stated their believes as a universal truth / fact. And in reply to what they said, I said I don't believe in God's existance or for me God doesn't exist (MY few, I never stated it as a universal truth / fact), if that other person had said, that they believe in God, that God helped them, that's would have been completely different... So no, I'm not a hypocrite, I just draw the line, when someone tries to sell their own truth as the universal truth and promises healing...
