On July 2nd I got triggered that God sent me a message telling me I’m going to hell if I do any type of sin. I know it’s my OCD but it feels so real, and it’s been severely bothering me this whole week now- it’s hard to go back to normal life when my brain is telling me constantly that I’m going to be doomed forever. Does anyone else experience anything similar to this? What should I do?
I’ve struggled with scrupilosity ocd myself and it’s my worst fear. Don’t be discouraged. Talk to your therapist if you have one. Remember GOD loves and knows what you go through.

Hello, I have struggled with this for more than a year and still do, don’t wait until it gets worse talk to an OCD specialist.
Thanks you. I never spoke to my OCD specialist much about these anxieties because they are not common for me but I’ll definelty bring it up next session later this month.

@Noelle! Please explain to the specialist what is going on and don’t ignore it just because it’s not common for you. God loves you regardless and I hope it gets better.

That sounds so painful. I am so so sorry you are dealing with those huge scary warnings in your head. That sucks that it feels so real too. ROCD TOTALLY sucks because you are already faithful in believing in God, and then OCD takes advantage of your faith and twists it. The wonderful thing, at least, is that OCD tries to thwart things that are really important to us. I am certain God understands how much you really do listen to Him and want to follow Him (IF you do--I don't mean to assume!!). Another thing I know for a fact is that, while, sure, God DOES send us warnings at the right times, prolonged fear is a product of Satan, who wants to engender feelings of hopelessness. OCD itself as a mental illness is an earthly illness, and know that God is fully aware of your struggles, and He loves you so much. "Perfect love casteth out all fear." Sorry, that was a lot. I have struggled with scrupulosity for a long time and I am so so sorry you are going through this agony. If you are doubting your worthiness in God's eyes, obviously reassurance will not help, but DO know that religion requires faith!! And maybe it will help to sass back the scary thoughts by saying, "Maybe I WILL go to hell. Maybe I won't. Who cares?" and things like that.
Thank you so much, I really needed to hear this. I feel like since my anxiety was so bad about this it felt super real and how the consequence is super scary (compared to my usual OCD triggers that usually aren’t involved with religion or existence). I asked my dad about this because he knows a lot about religion and gave me similar helpful reasoning. I know this wasn’t really a warning sign because it just gave me anxiety and confusion and hopelessness! My OCD also keeps saying “what if I’m ignoring this sign that I must not sin and that’s gonna send me to hell” but I literally need to stop letting it develop into more things and just let it go. And yes! My therapist told me about sassing the thoughts back and it has been a useful tool I noticed as time goes by the anxiety is going down and I am able to function a bit better. I am also sorry you have been struggling with this too- it sucks

I feel awful. I feel like I’ve received a test from God and failed. I got a groinal response while looking through instagram and saw a picture of a kid. I turned my screen off and laid in bed and I tried to recreate the feeling. I twitched my hips a bit, trying to see if it was real arousal, but now I feel like I don’t deserve to feel better and I’m convinced I am going to hell and will burn for what I’ve done. There was no joy or true desire there, but still, what kind of person does that? I thought OCD meant avoid avoid avoid, that’s not what I did. I don’t feel like a can wait another whole day before my session. Has any else had a similar experience? How do you forgive yourself and keep going when you feel like this?
I’ve been struggling with religious OCD for the past month or so (blasphemous intrusive thoughts, fear of going to hell, etc). I’m a Christian. I’ve been in ERP and I’m learning to let the thoughts just be which is hard, but I’m struggling with the overwhelming feelings of guilt about having the intrusive thoughts. I know the thoughts aren’t from me and don’t reflect my true self, but sometimes if feels like I’m bringing the thoughts on if that makes sense. Does anyone have any advice on overcoming the guilt? OCD is also telling me I’m never going to get over this and my relationship with God will never be the same. I just want to be able to praise God without all of this and it’s making me incredibly sad and lonely. Any words of encouragement are appreciated.
I suffer from religious ocd. My only goal in life is to live in God's will and to serve Him - to live and enjoy His eternal purposes & His presence. Jesus Christ is my life. That is my only desire on this earth, this short trip into eternity, and it's being stripped by ocd thoughts and intrusive thoughts 24-7. I have read many times that ocd can 'feel real', and this is true, our minds lie to us because of fear and anxiety we can't and were never meant to carry. I have begged and tormented myself in every way to find an answer from God. I think His answer may be that this is OCD, but I'm not sure. I started therapy again because I am so exhausted and this had stolen so much of my life in a spiral of negativity, depression, and constant anxiety & intrusive thoughts. I have spent about 2 years trying to figure out if my thoughts are real or not, especially with ocd it can deceive so easily as a spiritual matter when in reality it is just a thought, which is confusing and scary to say the least. Can anyone share their experiences with this sensation? No matter what the theme is... Thank you & Praying for your comfort
