naww this makes me so mad they are so incredibly tone deaf
I kinda get what the person who posted this means but it's a very small view of OCD. Like I'm very organized and particular about certain things so yes, it causes my room and other aspects of my life to be clean or tidy. But the key thing here is that it causes a lot of distress. I feel like I don't have a choice. I have to do it or something bad will happen or I feel extremely uncomfortable. For most people, them cleaning/organizing is an accomplishment. They pushed themselves and am proud of the work they did. For Mr it may be a grain of that but it's mainly that "if I don't do this I'm going to go crazy so I have to." People who haven't experienced that don't usually get it. Which is good and bad I guess.
@Idkwhoknowsidkdude Yeah I get why they would think that
Yeah, this person doesn’t understand what OCD is at all. Even if a person’s compulsions were to clean, the problem of OCD is that it gets in the way of life. You clean so much, that you are not performing at work. Or you don’t leave your house. Or you don’t maintain your relationships. This is why people with OCD are misunderstood—people are uninformed about what it is.
@dragon_calves Also there is a difference between OCPD and OCD.
i dont blame them for having such a view on ocd since i think its very much belittled and pushed away in society. nobody really knows the true struggles of ocd but at the same time they could do research. but to be fair being very clean is a symptom of ocd
they prob have ocpd not ocd really a bad post
@Gert0872 the quora post to be clear
Yeah, this individual does not understand what OCD is. Speaking as someone who has the disorder, albeit mildly, I would hesitate to cure it as well, but for existential reasons; simply put, I've become much better at managing this and I'm not sure how a cure would affect my broader thinking process...I'd wonder how it might change me and the way I look at the world. However, this is a personal opinion tailored to my experience...most people with this disorder would massively benefit from a cure, no question.
Oh wow
*not "Mr" but *me
