@Anna. I’m glad Zoloft worked for you! It worked ok for me for about 5 years and then just stopped working.

I tried Zoloft and Prozac and neither worked for me. I switched to Effexor which is an SNRI and it seems to be actually working!!

@Justanotheruser Thanks for sharing! I switched from Zoloft to Prozac and it’s working ok I guess but not really as much as I need and it has definitely given me side effects so I’m starting to consider switching drug classes. For some reason though the doctors I have are really determined to push the ssri’s and I don’t know why.

@Have a sunflower🌻 I just started it. I got a gene sight genetic test and it says it should be better for me. I am s switching from Zoloft. Anything you take needs to be a high dose

@Anonymous Thanks for sharing! I have always wanted to get that done but it’s expensive. I hope it works out for you! If you think about it, I would love to hear any update you may have after being on it for a while. It might just be worth it to dip into my savings and get that test.

@A human Hmm that sounds interesting. If I were you I’d be curious to see how it works after it’s been in your system a while. Hope it works out!

Have you tried Luvox? It's specifically used for OCD.

Has anyone tried lexapro? That’s what I have it’s okay but think Im gonna ask for a higher dose or a switch to a new med

@OCD&ME Lexapro was the very first ssri I used. At the time I was using it for a panic disorder and not ocd but it just wasn’t effective enough in my case so I switched to Zoloft. Zoloft worked well enough. I was functioning better but it kept decreasing in effectiveness over the years until I reached the max dose and it still just kept decreasing in effectiveness. I switched to Prozac last year and it is ok but I still am hopeful that I’ll find something that works better. Plus the Prozac is giving me side effects.

@Have a sunflower🌻 Thank you!!!!! I’ll suggest switching to Zoloft I feel the same the lexapro was working but I def think it’s decreasing in effectiveness!!

@OCD&ME I wish you luck with your medication journey! It’s a pain in the butt especially because everyone can react so differently. I would recommend you talking to a psychiatrist first (that’s again what I did) but it can definitely be frustrating if you feel it’s decreasing on effectiveness. Especially considering that as far as I have been able to find, no one knows why that happens for some people.

How many antidepressants have you all tried? I’m on my fourth and possibly transitioning to a fixity because the current one isn’t working. I’ve now done Genesight testing and I was prescribed Pristiq. It hasn’t reduced my anxiety at all. I was wondering if anyone else had to try many medications? And if so, did you eventually find one that worked?

Has anyone had success treating their OCD without medication and solely ERP or non-medicinal methods. I have pretty severe OCD and just about every sub-type, but I’ve been on various meds (SSRI & SNRIs) for going on 8 years and have never found one that truly relieves me of symptoms. I’m looking to see if it’s worth continuing with the side effects I experience (mostly mild) or if there are alternatives that could work for me. Low key tired of constantly changing meds in an attempt to find something that works when maybe medicine isn’t the route for me…

I just got my SSRI’s and I’m kinda nervous to take them so I was wondering if anyone has had a good or bad experience with them.
