@tulyp I don’t do that now but I used to chew, pull and twist my hair when I was younger! I always have my hair up at the moment, and unfortunately I pull my hair out straight from the scalp. Thank you for the reply tho! And I hope therapy helps and works well for you!! Best of luck :)

I scratch my scalp but recently my nails have all broke and become super super short which makes it harder for me to scratch at my scalp. I also used to pick at my feet and toes for hours on end but that all stopped when I started to paint my toenails and make them look presentable.

Yeah, almost my whole life. I stopped picking my skin soon after I stopped biting my nails about 6 months ago. I stopped doing it by using adjustable fidget rings that I bought off of Etsy, I put the rings on the fingers I bit/ picked most. I also held my hands together when my anxiety got really bad and I painted my nails really nicely so I had a reason not to ruin it, something else that helped was coating my nails with nail polish lots of times and then peeling it off over time (ALTHOUGH IT DOES DAMAGE YOUR NAILS A BIT)

@Anonymous Thank you!! I’ve seen fidget rings on tiktoks, I might have to take another look! I used to do the scratching the nail polish off too! I definitely think that one helped me. Thank you for the reply and tips! It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one, and lovely to hear you’ve had a positive end result

@Living anxiously No worries, I hope you get past this! Another thing that helped me was getting into nail art, my mum bought me a big set of nail polishes and proper nail kits for Christmas and through that I found a way to admire my nails rather than ruin them if that makes sense? Nail art isn't for everyone obviously though so if you don't enjoy doing it then the other tips will probably be more helpful

I’ve chewed my nails and skin around my nails since birth it feels like. My fingers look deformed, when they get water on them they get all white and puffy. almost like if you stay in a pool too long and get that weird water log on your hands. Only I put my hands in water for like 30 seconds and they puff up instantly. I believe I made it one of my OCD routines. I have to constantly check if there’s no loose skin or nails sticking out, and if there is I have to chew it off then I just don’t stop chewing until my finger is bleeding. It’s a very bad habit but it relieves my anxiety when I do it. I’m tired of my deformed, red, bloody fingers and nails it’s so embarrassing.
