Food For Thought…
I may or may not get hate for this but here it goes. In December of 2021 I was diagnosed with OCD. I was experiencing POCD, HOCD, TOCD, Perfectionism OCD, schizophrenia OCD, Health OCD and Harm OCD. Things are much better now I can say and I usually just have one subtype that bothers me during the day. However, this all happened after a emotionally traumatic experience in my life. In the 20 years of my life prior I never once had OCD maybe little spurts here and there but nothing major. . Im sure some of us have concluded that OCD is some sort of “survival” or “protective” mechanism that our brain does. Well, whats funny is all those subtypes are the only thing that could possibly bother me (as they say it protects your values). But one thing I want to say (yes i know its not ALWAYS a typical subtype) is that the brain knows right from wrong. Now this is where it fascinates me because everyone has there own right and wrong in there brain. Which is made up from so many different things, but I think our brains have some prior wiring before coming into this world. For example: I truly believe if you’re gay you are born that way. I knew my cousin was gay when he was 2. Seriously… I KNEW along with everyone else. But what’s weird is him and I could both have OCD. He could have ocd about being straight and I could have OCD about being gay. Which brings me to my next conclusion where some people might hate. For the MAJORITY of the population we are not gay, schizophrenic, dirty (everyone has germs lol), trans, doubting our relationships etc. so with that being said I believe whole heartedly that a lot of these subtypes come from deep within the subconscious as something that is inherently wrong/scary according to THEIR brain (same could be said for opposite once again). Now you might say: being gay isnt wrong? Well is killing people then (harm ocd)? I have seen others’ stories about being “okay” with maybe having schizophrenia or being trans whatever it might be (yes i get accepting if its ERP), but what I’m trying to say is I personally dont like the “you’ll never really know”. I think that mindset is great for ERP but I see a lot of the people sometimes saying “Well You Really never know” well I can sure as hell tell you im not a serial killer or going to be one unless SOME WAY SOME HOW the impossible is done and same goes for every other subtype. Love you all, sorry for the rant/theory. Ocd sucks but we got this.
