I have a huge fear of war and I’ve been banned from watching/ reading the news because of the state I was in after reading it. However (I live in the UK) and a friend told me putin is getting closer to the UK. I’m so scared. I can’t sleep.
Please contact your GP about all of this and discuss therapy and referrals. Look into private therapy with NOCD if you can. Use the exercises on this app. NOCD have book recommendations on their blog - nobody on this app is going to reassure you… we’d moaned at each other about the issue with this too much lol. You need to start helping yourself actively or by asking for help.
She just told me that apparently putin is planning on bombing us next.
@Myheadhurts35 Put on something nice.. a podcast, white/brown noise, a movie and stop talking to your friend until morning.

@peaceandluv Try not to reassure people. Only makes it more difficult for them long term… a war might start, it might spread… it might not. We have to learn to live with and cope with uncertainty.

Reassurance isn’t ever helpful long term and it doesn’t ‘spur growth’ either. Telling OP to question sources of information isn’t related to reassurance at all… you’ve just taught them a life skill. It’s great they’ve been able to learn this skill after looking for reassurance though - I’m not going to stay in this thread any longer because OP has moved past this situation but they still have an overall fear of war and will need to confront this. Again OP if you haven’t already please contact your GP or find an OCD specialist about this. Best of luck!
I keep getting triggered by news stories related to my obsessive thoughts. I was feeling ok for a few days but now I'm spiralling again because of the news.
Hey friends… I am in a really low place regarding my health anxiety. I am absolutely terrified of cancer. Im only 17 years old and im worrying more about health then living my life its very draining. At the moment I have a very chesty cough which has lasted around two weeks and a runny nose and just full sinuses. I woke up from my sleep tonight and woke up completely wet in sweat and itchy. I am terrified in case ive got cancer. I get so so scared It genuinely is not only affecting me but everyone else around me im pulling them down too. 💔 I am UK based and recently got a job and even then its all I can think about. Im crying my eyes out scared ☹️ To anyone else going through this your not alone and its so consuming. ❤️🩹
I was trying to sleep in an aunt house and I’m suffering from nightmares or when I take naps or sleep I dream horrible things, and I took a little nap and I was about to start having a nightmare and I woke up. There’s a person that lives here and he’s not even here but I was about to have a dream with him it’s so scary he’s not even my family member or anything. And like it’s a delicate topic. But it’s the feeling that I can’t even sleep sometimes without dreaming this things that are so scary . And the groinal responses are about to kill me ! This is truly destroying my life I don’t know what to do I don’t want to be like this but I’m too tired to stay awake and too tired to sleep
