We’re all in this together.

I’ve experienced being blocked, I was shocked because I was only trying to help someone because I understood what they were going through. (Religious Scrupulosity) Nevertheless we all have our own unique journeys and I shouldn’t take it to heart because you’ve got to do what is right for you. Self awareness is good and if I’ve ever offended any of you, can you please make me aware. No one can be a better person if they don’t know their wrongs. I’ve attached screenshots of the conversation.

Hi there! I think you both should not take it personally. I am a non religious person, and things like praying for me invoke magical thinking as a compulsion. I am a spiritual person and do share religious morals. Yet some time ago when i medidated a lot, it turned out to actually intensify my ocd, as it put meaning on the thoughts and feelings (so through meditation i actually went into the rabbit hole in stead of out of it). Praying, or saying mantra's does the same for me, so thats why i do not like it if fellow ocd-sufferers bring forward their religious beliefs. Even though i do value their private reasons for getting strength and meaning from it. It's just not for me. Hope this explanation on my behalf makes sense (even though you might have a different opinion). Take care and big hug for you both!

Hey there ✋🏻 I’m a pastor and I have been in this place before. If we don’t have a desire to grow as people and overcome our triggers (or if it’s just too intense to manage in our own) we will view the source of our trigger as a threat and run away. We can’t control how our triggers make us feel, but we can control our choices and how we treat people. You did nothing wrong and you have no reason to feel guilty. Any time we help someone we run the risk of inadvertently triggering them, but that shouldn’t make us stop from helping one another. How else do we grow as people?

You’re a great and compassionate communicator. I’m open to feedback as well - I’m not always the best in at coming across as intended in messaging, and overall it’s great practice. You know it’s also possible, since we don’t know how their OCD is manifesting, that blocking may be a direct result of it? Something else we can all keep in mind so we can stay compassionate and not take it personal. 💜

I’ve been going through this myself. My reassurance seeking / unintentionally triggering advice has gotten me blocked by people on this app… I truly hate my life and I don’t think anyone actually cares about me…
