SSRI
Hey y’all! Starting Zoloft today, I need some encouraging & reassuring words. I’ve never taken an SSRI before but it’s gotten to the point where I want to try it. I have intrusive thoughts surrounding taking new medications because of an incident about 6 months ago so im so extremely nervous.
I am taking Zoloft, and I have not had any side effects. I have also taken lexapro, and it was fine. It did not make me feel drowsy or sleepy, but I think that it made me gain weight. It is one of the side effects, and that is why I wanted to change medication. Try out Zoloft and how it makes you feel. It there is anything that you do not like, contact your doctor for any needed changes. There are so many different antidepressants, so there is no need to stick to one if you do not feel like it is not working.

good luck! zoloft is the only med i’ve found that doesn’t give me weird side effects. i’ve had medication incident trauma, so i TOTALLY get where you’re coming from. you got this!
Never tried Zoloft, but good luck! I’ve only heard good things. Its true that people react differently to meds, so, as any good therapist would tell you: technically, it’s possible it COULD hurt you. But keep your hopes up, and let the uncertainty in! If all goes well, you’re going to look back on this point in your life and laugh.
I’ve tried Zoloft at different points in my life, and have not had negative side effects on it nor while tapering off. It’s been a reliable drug I return to, although the benefit is minor for me it’s something and I think it’s good to stay open to trying different ways to support ourselves. Starting meds isn’t something I take lightly so I sympathize with you but like ERP work teaches we can move forward despite anxiety, it doesn’t mean we are not cautious, we work closely with the prescribing doc and advocate for ourselves- like someone above mentioned. I’ve tried some meds that were unpleasant to taper off from but have stayed open to trying others. I’ve tried 6 over the years (I’m not young). I hope it helps you a lot!

so how do you do erp if you are taking medication? if you dont have feelings due to medication how can you do erp.

@Anonymous Meds don’t make feelings disappear, but can help bring down the intensity of symptoms, and that can support therapy work.
Okay, so I’ve always been reluctant to try meds, but I finally did and tried 50mg of fluvoxamine for 4 days. It made me 100x worse in a matter of 2 days. I was told to give it a month but I couldn’t. I literally was paralyzed with fear and I didn’t sleep those 4 days I took them. I also got this weird side effect where I see like a floater in the corner of my eye and it doesn’t go away. It started right after I stopped taking fluvoxamine cold turkey. Now, I was prescribed 25mg of Zoloft. I’m terrified to take it. But I feel like I need to start taking meds because my ocd is becoming so unbearable and I need some peace. Tell me your experiences. Did you feel like SSRIs really were a life saver? This might sound like I’m asking for reassurance, but I genuinely want to read some peoples experiences before I give it another go.
Hey! So last night I started taking 25mg of Zoloft. And today I feel better! (Thank Heavens) SO FAR, there has been no side effects. Is that normal? Should I brace myself? Is the worst yet to come? Is it just a placebo effect? I’ve had this medicine sitting in my cabinet for a month because I have been scared to take it. Some of the rare side effects is almost too much for my anxiety to handle. The uncertainty of it all is scary. For those who have taken SSRIs/Zoloft before, what was the first 2 weeks like?
I was just prescribed zoloft but after looking online at common side effects, i’m very hesitant about the medication. i’ve never taken any sort of SSRI and am very nervous, i’m already having some negative side effects. has it helped anyone had a good experience on it or has any advice?
