Can OCD cause doubts about being diagnosed with autism?

Does anyone who’s autistic and has ocd ever doubt the autism. My ocd makes me doubt the fact that I’m autistic, it always makes me believe that I’ve been misdiagnosed and I get anxious that I’m just a weirdo or something and that I’m just really dramatic when it comes to overwhelming situations, when they genuinely freak me out :( My ocd keeps making me doubt the fact that I’m autistic, even though a literal professional diagnosed me and it’s so obvious that I’m autistic!! Does anyone else relate???

@Giving up When I first thought I was autistic I did some research about it and made a list of what traits I have, maybe you could try that and then if you believe you do still have it then you can try to book an assessment :) (that’s what I did anyway!)

@Giving up Lots of people are autistic and that’s ok, there are lots of positives, for example, we may have big interests and we can focus well and we have a deep care for others!! It’s nothing to be ashamed of, you may have it or you may not and that’s ok <3

I feel ya there. I’m autistic and I get these nagging doubts sometimes too. It makes me want to forget that I’m autistic altogether, because I feel like me acknowledging any of my traits is just me being delusional. Yet I was diagnosed really young and have had my diagnosis confirmed multiple times over the years— and most of all, knowing a myself and the way I’ve been my whole life, there’s really no way I’m not autistic.

My diagnosis is up in the air atm. Right now OCD, mild autism and schizophrenia are on the table. From my own research I’m pretty sure I have OCD and autism explains a lot. I might have the schizophrenia too. The OCD has me thinking I have or don’t have any combination of these atm. I really need to speak to my doctor soon so he can finally try to give me a proper diagnosis. I’d recommend keeping a close dialogue with your team as this has helped me the most in getting answers. Call them once in a while.

Is it just me or does anyone else also doubt the fact that they have OCD even if they know for sure that they do have OCD and have been diagnosed various times??

OCD doubt

My sister told me today that my stepdad doesn't think I have OCD, or doubts that I do, since indont display any of the obvious, cliche OCD behaviors that he as seen or is aware of. (Such as obsessove over cleanliness, switching door locks, etc like what they show in movies). I wasn't aware he thought this, and had (about a year ago) told him and my mom about it all, when I was in therapy and getting diagnosed. I felt like they had been supportive and it was hard for me to tell them. Plus I already doubt it/myself enough. So I feel upset and angry and dejected realizing he felt this way and I didn't know it. And now I can feel it making me spiral into wondering "well, maybe he's right and I don't have it and I'm insane" etc. It's just tiring. 😔
