Thank you! I lived with HOCD for 6 years undiagnosed and untreated so I understand the torment! It’s so nice knowing we aren’t alone ❤️❤️
Love your youtube channel, you always help us a lot with hocd. Is nice to have you here too
Thanks so much everyone for your warm welcome! It’s so nice to be surrounded by people who just ‘get it’! It warms my heart and soul to hear that my videos have helped y’all. I felt so very alone for soooooo many years like I was some alien or monster. My goal is to reach as many people in the world to help them feel less alone and validate they are not a ‘bad person’ just because of thoughts. So glad I’ve been able to reach you ❤️❤️❤️?
Hey there Addie976. When I get the Groinal syndrome, I choose to not give it any opportunity to feel relevant through emotion or logic. I recognize the feeling and even if it gives me a zing of anxiety, I choose to believe, maybe it’s real arousal or maybe it’s not! Engaging in trying to figure out its ‘meaning’ does nothing but make it stronger!
Hey y’all! To answer questions above: 1. depersonalization and derealization are just themes/symptoms of ocd. They should be treated the same as any symptom, let it be there, embrace it and try not to fight it. Definitely seek out an ERP therapist to help reduce symptoms! 2. Glad my response was helpful on the Groinal—and Dr. McGrath is so funny but can also be brutal! Haha I love him! 3. My YouTube channel is Chrissie Hodges/Pure OCD Advocate. 4. I’m doing the best I can with my recovery daily. Some days are tougher than others but mindfulness and embracing uncertainty helps me so much! 5. My suggestion on worrying that might hit you again/relapse is instead of fearing it, expect it! Relapse is inevitable, so if you are in the mindset that it’s gonna happen vs I hope it doesn’t happen, it will lessen the blow when it does. Be confident in the tools you have learned to manage it. ❤️❤️??
Chrissie you are a legend. Thank you for all you do
Chrissie I’m pretty sure you are the reason I’m still here :)

Woahhhh Chrissie you are awesome! Just yesterday I listened to a podcast in which Kimberley Quinlan interviews you. It was so inspiring. Thanks for what you do for the ocd community!
This is so amazing that you are here!!
Chrissie! You are an inspiration. I’m “in recovery“ now, but also weaning off meds, and getting reminders of what more intense OCD feels like. I’ve learned so much about OCD, and someday I’d like to be an advocate too!
Hi chrissie. Nice to have you here. Watched all your videos. If made me understand OCD alot easier than anywhere else. I have secretly suffered in silence for many years. I've got an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow I'm hoping to try to tell them about it. But my anxiety gets so bad, I struggle to speak. So I've wrote it down just incase they will be understanding enough to read it. Rather than coax me to talk out loud. I'm petrified. But just want to say thank you for your videos. Your a breath of fresh air to us all.
Thank you for everything that you do Chrissie. I am so so so grateful. You are such a great person.
Nice to meet you!
You are so inspiring, Chrissie!!

Hey Chrissie, how do I deal with depersonalization and derealization, I get blurry vision and I always feel like I’m high or in a dream, it’s starting to turn into a theme of my OCD and also I get homicidal and suicidal ocd intrusive thoughts along with the depersonalization! Any tips for what I’m dealing with currently?
Awesome to have you here Chrissie- how are you doing with your recovery?

Chrissssiie! Hi from Belgium and Spain! ??
So happy you are on here now. You have been so much help to me through your YouTube channel. ❤️
Hey Chrissie! My name's Madeline. I worked with Dr. McGrath this past December. He showed me what I believe is your video on groinal sensations. It's the hardest OCD topic I've yet to overcome. It was hard but helpful to hear someone elses experience of it. Do you have any tips to getting past the horrendous thoughts that come along with it?
Chrissie, thank you for all you do. You helped my so much. You’re videos helped me understand what my counselor was teaching me. More liked you helped me to accept what she was teaching me. Lol POCD nearly took me out!!!! James from Florida.
Chrissie thank you for all the videos and your message you are a God send
Thank you so much for responding! It's the weirdest one and my OCD tells me that if I have a thought like that and a physical sensation then it verifies the thought. Dr. McGrath told me I think like a Freudian. Lol which I did not appreciate.
Welcome ?
Hi Chrissie and thank you for joining the app! I have heard your interviews on The OCD Stories podcast and want to personally thank you for all the work you do to support individuals struggling with OCD!
Love you Chrissie I am a big fan of you from Costa Rica
Omg I love her
Good to have you here!
Hey!! Happy that you are here! Just signed up!
Hi chrissie
Hi Chrissie :)
Welcome
Chrissie, thank you so much for your YouTube videos. They have helped me so much!
Hey Chrissie, do you have any tips on accepting that groinal responses don't prove intrusive thoughts? It's a huge hurdle I cannot get over.
Thank you so much Chrissie
Chrisse how do I get to your podcast
Nice to meet you.
So glad to see you here!!
Nice to me you. Welcome.
Hope you are having a good day
You were the first one I saw in you tube talking about pure OCD.Always cool ☺??
As everyone has said, thank you so much Chrissie. You've helped me so much
I am still not with it on pod cast
Please tell me where you can see the video’s?
Cool.
Hard to find.
Hey Chrissie! I know he's great! There were times in therapy that I got so frustrated...I might've called him an a**hole, and then immediately apologized. He was like, it's fine, I like assholes, and went on with my therapy. I could be candid without being judged. He spoke so highly of you. :)
Chrissy? I had a hard time finding your video’s but I think I was able to find one and you are good.
Good Morning aa hope everyone is having a good day
Right back at all of you about having a good day.
Hello, I have just recently been diagnosed with Pure O OCD and found this app by chance. It’s so amazing to see that other people experience similar things that I do. Now that I know about Pure O, so many things make sense. Thinking back over my life, I never knew so much aligned with OCD. I just figured it was cause of my severe anxiety and depression. Anyways, I’m glad I found this community. :)
Hello! I am new to this app even though I have struggled with OCD almost all my life. I am a college student, almost twenty years old plagued with intrusive thoughts mostly dealing with sexuality and real events. I am happy that I will get to know people who also has OCD and will not make me feel alone. As a starter, how old are ya’ll and how was your experience with this distressful mental illness? I hope all of ya’ll are having a peaceful day 😊
Hey y’all! I just joined this community. I am really excited to grow in overcoming OCD in my brain. I’ve had anxiety and phobias my entire life and have had OCD for about 1.5 years now. I have POCD, harm OCD, and general compulsive thoughts about doing things out of character. I have these mostly in social situations or even when I am alone thinking I might post something in a group chat. I don’t like traveling alone because I am afraid of what I might do. I am tired of feeling alone and I’ve been misdiagnosed several times which has made me feel helpless. But I know there is hope. I know there is a way forward and this has a name. 💪🏼🌞
