Man teenagers are so mean

On TikTok, I get called ugly so damn much, and people are just fucking rude and I'm not sure what they expect to gain from it, bc yes, it sucks, but I don't really care. Yes I post goofy videos of me doing voiceovers of cringey songs, I'm having fun, and showing my confidence, ppl really wasting a second typing out "💀" which, I don't even know why, like, if ur having a bad day, sorry but it's not my problem. It does piss me off, but I'm keeping my head high, Kinda sucks cos my friend hardly ever gets hate comments and I get them every day. :/

Well I think you should confront the fact that you do care. If you are posting here it means it matters enough that you are seeking advice or venting to strangers. If you believe TikTok gives you more happiness than sadness continue posting. Otherwise, if it is so bad then stop. Also recognize people will get hate no matter what they do. Even people doing objectively good things (like feeding the poor or donating clothes) will get hate.

You grew up with this technology, it's an ubiquitous part of your life, and we unleashed it without proper consideration of its effects. Quitting cold turkey might not be realistic, but work on extracting yourselves as much as possible.

Here is some support: Social media is awful for mental health and making friends. When I was a teenager, I stayed off social media. I'm glad I did. Focused on more important things like real life friends, school, God, and helping people in the community. I consider myself a very successful young adult now who still stays off social media. It will feel lonely at first to stop, but not as lonely as how you feel now. So if you need to stay off social media, know that it can be done, and that it's helpful.

There is a difference between knowing how it works vs. being a slave to it or even using it. You don't need TikTok, Facebook, Instagram to land a successful job. LinkedIn maybe, but not social media.

Good on you! ❤ I'm reaching 10 years being off Facebook and all socials. One of thr best decisions I ever made, too! 😊 I enjoy going hiking, working out, writing, and hanging out with REAL friends in REAL life with people who accept all of my flaws and I accept theirs. Without the pressure to compare fake media or to "show off my best" to just to stay "connected."

@Shellcat I find tik tok useful, installed and uninstalled Facebook 250 times, deleted accounts and started over 4-5 times since the app was born.

I think social media is needed but in chunks. If a kid is 18 and doesn’t understand Facebook now a days..agree real life people, but cyber bullying has been around forever. I’ve met close friends in real life through social media but I miss the old days of a landline 📞 phone

I hope someone's here for me. I'm at an extreme low. Passing thoughts of suicide exist. I don't think I'll act on it, I just don't know what to do. These past 5 months are enough for me to know what kind of person I am, and it's not good. My girlfriend broke up with me a month ago. A lot of my friends are telling me I'm a narcissist and too rude with my humor. One of them advised that I should isolate myself from them until I learn to be a better person. Any joy I feel is undeserved. The shit I've seen because of this illness. There's things online that I think I've seen for a couple seconds that's genuinely incriminating. So why is there any compassion? Why am I here? Considering that back in July I'd look up bikini gifs on tenor to make sure I was straight, some of those gifs were tik toks. What if those people were underage? I can't bare this. My parents say there is nothing to worry about but they're liars. I don't wish this upon any other 15 year old. I am not a good person.

I’m mean and weird, intrusive thoughts don’t help

TW: self-hate I’m a mean, petty, angry person. It’s hard not to be when you’re in my position. I know this mindset is closely tied to victim thinking but I’m 19 and I’m scared for my future. I don’t even really know who I am and when I say everybody in my life is on some fake shit I’m not lying. I’m not saying that for attention. I cut people off before they even get to start a conversation with me when I’m out in public because I don’t trust anybody. Female strangers be rude asf to me a lot of the time, male strangers be creepy asf to me most of the time. When I tussle with people I get VERY petty because I hate when people feel comfortable disrespecting me. When I say I had to fight everyone constantly growing up and now I’m an adult having to do the same shit it’s not for attention. And it sucks even more now because if I let my anger get out of control (ties into HOCD) even tho I have no desire to, it would have consequences. Idk I be so angry . I’m so fucking tired everybody in my life has been on some fake shit I can’t even exaggerate it enough. If I told y’all the shit my family be saying and doing to me since I was a child your jaw would drop. And I haven’t had friends for years because I’m socially awkward and weird as fuck. I really hate myself lmao. Idk what I’m looking for. Maybe I’m looking for attention. Maybe I’m looking for hope. I be trying to hard to glow up and become a better me but . I feel so stuck and angry all the time. I wanna know if I’m not the only one tho and if there is anybody who relates, did you get over it?
