I think one of my OCD obsessions has become meta… what if my OCD just forever changes subtypes, and it evades treatment? Most of it is existential but worried about getting my subtype wrong or it being treatment resistant.
It’s always going to change because that’s just how OCD works. But you treat all the themes as they are: OCD.
I think that’s why some people don’t focus on their subtype and just treat all ocd thoughts the same no matter the subtype. You can also have multiple subtypes at a time so because you have one doesn’t mean you don’t have the other. I found my ocd will switch when I stop paying attention to a certain subtype because I am taking away its power so treating all subtypes and ocd thoughts the same has helped me a lot. All the subtypes are connected. We are one body so our anxiety, depression, OCD, adhd, etc. can all be related and have similar causes. A lot of it is cause and effect. I understand the need to be certain with a category but the truth is that categories really only provide a rough outline- there will never be something 100% within the lines- it’ll overlap. You can have mixed obsessions at the same time; mental compulsions and physical compulsions.
My ocd subtype changed again. Now I'm worried what if I go crazy. With all this anxiety and worrying it already feels like I am. I don't want to go crazy or experience psychosis. I'm so scared. Does anyone know how to deal with this?
Hi guys! I believe I have an OCD since I was around 12. I remember then I had a lot of intrusive thoughts about religious things and I had a counting compulsion (I thought that If I don't count to 8 in specific moments, someone gets hurt) During later years it was really changing - I stopped being religious, so the OCD theme also stopped. Then I had I reckon SOCD, harm OCD and many others. But for know my main topic is ROCD. But because of the fact that this is my main intrusive thoughts topic I start to have this awful thoughts that this is not OCD, I'm just with the wrong person and I need to accept this fact. This is really struggling for me, because i really love my bf and Im in the healthy realtionship but Im so tired of having this kind of thoughts, sometimes I cannot sleep because of them. Also the fact that I've never been diagnosed (I cannot go on theraphy right now unfortunately) is another trigger because I have thoughts that I dont really have OCD, I just making this up, because I cannot accept the truth. Is there someone with similar experiance? Or maybe someone who can have advice for me?
I was just wondering can OCD switch between two specific themes. Recently my theme had changed from false memories (reassurance) to obsessing over news(Russia and the potential draft) and now it has switched back to my original theme while the new one is still subtext in my mind. Is this common and does anyone have any advice (I’m seeking out NHS talk therapies as don’t have the money for anything else)
