Question about logic in ocd
Hey guys so I had a question about how to stop ruminating/compulsions. Like I know a lot of the literature for OCD says we “can’t” logic our way out of it, like convincing ourselves that this thought or compulsion does us no good. But honestly that’s how I do it with my OCD, like once I realize that this is not a thought I want to engage with, I tell myself all the reasons why that’s not a thought I want to or have to engage with and it works, has this work for any of you? Because then my ocd tells me that I’m not doing ERP “right” and that telling my self those truths are a form or neutralizing my distress, then I start ruminating on how my recovery should feel or look like 🫠 aghh
