What do you guys feel about the topic of God

Today I went to church for the very first time in about 4 years since it was the 1 year anniversary of my grandmothers death. During the service I was thinking and I guess I am not religious anymore because I guess I don’t understand why God would allow so much suffering in the world and allow people to have things like mental illness especially ocd which is what we deal with specifically in this community. I feel like deep down if I were to believe in god or a higher power I feel like I have resentment towards him/her/them for letting me suffer with such horrible thoughts since I was a little boy. Idk was wondering what your guys opinion on this is.

I fully understand your frustration with suffering and wondering why God would allow it. I am sorry about your grandmother’s death. I realize that not hearing the voice of someone we care for can be painful. I feel the same as what “hellopeople” said above. I would like to mention that I have had OCD since my 20’s I am now 62. I came to know God when I was 18. The Gospel of John chapter 1 verse 12 says, “But as many as received Him (Jesus) to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name”. When my OCD spiked 2 years ago it was a hard time for me. I spent many nights “OCDing” (made up word). I learned that in those darkest moments God presence and love was known to me more in a deeper way in those times then when I was feeling good on a happy sunny day. The Lord Jesus says in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 11 verses 28-30 “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light”. The Lord Jesus says “Come to Me in your hurt and struggles. We don’t have to work in getting ourselves all together then Jesus will welcome us. He wants us to come to Him in our pain and struggles. He suffered Himself. He was rejected by those He loved. And those who put Him on the cross He prayed for their forgiveness. It hurts to know but the fact is life can be painful in so many ways. The pain will be there the question is what will be my reaction. I understand your question as to “why the pain?” I have gone through painful times and I don’t fully know why. But I know God knows what is best for me I know He loves me. He is in control and has my best interests at heart. I know your struggle. I have had tears and sweat from anxiety saying “No” to OCD. But I know God is with me in the midst of it. Please feel free to let me know if you disagree or agree. This is a huge subject and difficult to answer in a short message. I know the struggle of OCD. I know you can say “No” to it 👍.

Hi there. It’s always good to reflect on what we believe. I’m sorry for the loss of your Grandma. That’s actually a very common question of why God allows suffering, and can be answered theologically. Sin entered the world through one man (Adam) and all people sin, (the fall also includes sickness entering the world) God could have wiped out the entire human race and start over but he has mercy on us and so God send His son Jesus to die for the whole world to pay for our sin. God is slow to anger, He knows the evil in the world, and He is coming again to judge all evildoers, and make all things new. He allows it because He does not wish anyone to go to hell but wants all to have time to trust in Jesus to save them. “…but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭

Religious OCD

I’m a Christian with religious OCD something I’ve always wondered as a Christian is why did God send Jesus to die on the cross why didn’t God die on the cross? Every time I think about that, my OCD calls God a bad word. even as I’m typing this, my mind is calling that bad word I don’t mean it and I don’t understand it. I know I would never say that last night when I had that thought I felt so sick. I ran to the bathroom because I thought I was going to throw up. it’s terrible and something that is not true, I’m sure you guys can figure it out it starts with a p. I don’t wanna kill myself, but I feel like that’s the only option (edited)

I don't know how to combat these thoughts tbh

Dealing with ocd since age 7 on and off it's all good until it gets spiritual but I'm like how can God forgive these thoughts that feel like they're coming from me? I was binging cookies and I already thought I'm going to finish these as soon as I pick up the cookie- God wouldn't like that. You know you're destroying His temple. And then a random thought. I'll do what I want. Worship how I want. Bruh what??????? Is this what He meant by Haughty spirit? And if i chalk it up to OCD will I be considered of flattering the Lord with my lips (denying it verbally that it's OCD) but in my heart there's malice? Is it dual mindededness any theologians here?

I am a Christian and I went through religious OCD and I felt like I blasphemy the Holy Spirit

so my dad is Jewish and my mom is Christian. I used to go to Hebrew school when I was younger, but recently I started going to church and becoming a Christian and turning to Jesus and when I recently got diagnosed with OCD a couple months ago I had really really bad religious OCD. I had very disrespectful thoughts about Jesusand God, but mainly Jesus. and I had very disturbing thoughts about Jesus that made me avoid a lot of things, but I know that’s making the OCD worse. I’m doing erp currently my religious OCD has honestly gone away. I’ve dealt with it. I am managing it but ever since I’ve had religious OCD and had disturbing and disrespectful thoughts about God in Jesus mainly Jesus, I’ve felt a awkward distance between me, God and Jesus and it just feels like I’m going to hell and they don’t love me anymore and I haven’t felt the same presence from God ever since I’ve had religious OCD and I’ve had some situations that I felt like I blasphemy the Holy Spirit and I committed blasphemy and I just feel like God really doesn’t love me anymore and I’m done for i’ve kind of been numb to it so it’s not really bothering me, but I want a better relationship with God and Jesus it just feels like they don’t love me anymore. Has anyone else gone through this? and I’ve had situations where I felt like I was very disrespectful and mocked God and Jesus, but mainly Jesus. And i freaked out for days didn’t feel like myself repented multiple times pretty sure this is just religious OCD but seriously I have not felt the same with my relationship with God and Jesus. OCD has really really affected my life and it sucks. I’m going through Harm OCD right now. So religious OCD has kinda gone away but I just want a better relationship with God and Jesus sorry this text is so long. Has anyone else gone through this?
