Sertraline issue
I took 15mg of my medicine and my chest started burning terribly and it’s not going away it’s getting much worse. What do I do? It’s never done this to me before and I’ve taken this much normally

Hey - I don't have an actual answer for you, unfortunately, I can say that I had a really whacky reaction when I upped my dose of sertraline. I basically had a panic attack and random parts of my body went numb, and it was a whole thing. So maybe it's a sertraline specific thing? Maybe see if you can go to an urgent care if it doesn't improve?
@LAA It definitely could be the Sertraline but I’ve never had this reaction before. I’ve had it bother my stomach but not to the point where it burns in my esophagus too. It’s like my throat, chest and stomach are all on fire at the same time. I tried eating bread and drinking water and it didn’t work. I just took Pepto Bismol and chewing gum but it hasn’t gotten better at all
@Mikeneko 🧡 Oh man, I'm sorry! Maybe super bad acid reflux? Good call on the pepto bismol - I hope it helps!!
@LAA I think it could be. I really hope it does too because it is very painful. Never again will I take my medication without taking necessary precautions first because this is terrible. I’ve been taking it for about a year now I don’t understand why it’s never done this before. Anyways thank you for your help and support!
150mg sorry not 15
I saw someone recommend eating apples. Apparently the way it dissolves can cause heartburn, but apples have always given me heartburn personally so idk if apples are the answer. But maybe you haven’t eaten recently enough to avoid the heartburn and food will help?
@Bronsautracks So it’s heartburn?
@Bronsautracks What if I don’t have apples?
@Mikeneko 🧡 Sadly I can’t say for sure it’s heartburn, but heartburn is a commonly reported side effect. If you don’t have apples, maybe just eat something bland or have a tums?
@Bronsautracks I tried tums it didn’t help. The burning just keeps getting worse and it’s not going away at all. I’m terrified because I’ve never experienced this kind of pain in my chest before
@Mikeneko 🧡 Well, chest pain is one of those things that you really shouldn’t ignore. Personally, I’d go get checked out if typical heartburn fixes weren’t doing it for me and I was in a kind of pain I’d never felt before.
@Bronsautracks My mom keeps telling me it’s an anxiety attack and I keep telling her about the pain in my chest she doesn’t understand. Should I go to the hospital myself? It’s not going away at all
@Mikeneko 🧡 I’ve gone to the hospital for panic attacks that I thought were heart attacks in the past. It’s a distressing state to be in. It’s chest pain. Any doctor is going to say to err on the side of caution, so you should make your decision based on what you feel. Trust yourself to know your body and what you need.
@Bronsautracks Very true and I really can’t go through all that. I’m trying to eat bread and drink water to get it to go down. I saw on Reddit that if you don’t drink water before you take it or if you don’t eat before it can but your esophagus and I think maybe that’s what it could be
@Bronsautracks The bread and water did absolutely nothing. It’s burning so badly
I am probably going to start sertraline soon. Does anyone have any experience with this medication?
Today marks my third day on 150 mg of Sertraline, and I've been noticing some symptoms or issues that could be related? I'm wondering if anyone else deals or has dealt with something similar? I've been having really vivid dreams and nightmares, and when I wake up from them, I'm DRENCHED in sweat. Like absolutely soaked. But besides that, I'm extremely anxious. Even the dreams I can't remember leave me feeling off, and then I spiral wondering what they were about. Then there's not being able to cry? I'm not incapable of feeling emotion, but the tears feel trapped, and I just get nauseous if anything. There's been a couple of times where I've been able to cry, but it's like on and off 😭 Oh, and the last thing is constantly feeling hot? Like my face will feel flushed, but the rest of my body is a normal temperature. It's weird🧍♀️
I was on Zoloft for over a month , then 2 days ago my heart rate got to 140 and I made my mom take me to the hospital. everything was okay just anxiety, now I’ve been waking up with anxiety and being nauseous it goes away after a min but it just sucks. I wanna stop my Zoloft idk how to go about that either. I’m so stressed. 😞💔
