@leslieann84 Hi! Does your therapist know about scrupulosity? I’d imagine most on NOCD do. Be careful taking advice from someone who isn’t certified to treat our disorder. You don’t want to be led down the wrong path.

@Anonymous - She knows I believe and I know she doesn't. Is that a bad thing?

@leslieann84 If she is certified to treat OCD scrupulosity and doesn’t try to sway what your faith teaches then it’s not a problem. It is better to see a therapist who shares the same values you do since they’ll likely understand your case better, but since you’ve been seeing this therapist it’s better to see someone you trust. If you lack trust with your therapist then consider looking for another one, but recognize there’re no perfect therapists.

@Anonymous - I'll have to ask her at our next appointment about the scrupulosity. I assume my prayers are compulsions because I beg God to take these thoughts and feelings away.

@leslieann84 Take it up with your therapist. That’s the best advice I can give since we don’t really know each other. I’ll pray for you though. That I can do.

I wouldn't necessarily label your prayers as compulsions. Jesus wants us to come to Him. Maybe instead of asking Him to take your anxiety away, ask Him to renew your mind and thoughts. To replace your anxiety with peace.

@leslieann84 There have been times when I thought my prayers were compulsions, but I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing. The verse Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17) really brings comfort to me. Praying without ceasing is not bad ❤️❤️❤️

@leslieann84 Ask yourself in the moment am I praying to relieve anxiety or to get closer to Christ. Always ask God to adjust your heart and it’s desires to His will and then allow Him to. There’s nothing wrong with what you’re doing and God rejoices to hear your voice, also remember what I said in the beginning.
