Ahoj!šš½āāļø I would like to ask if you also experience this: Everywhere where I have my things - my bedroom, my shoes storage etc. I need to have it perfecly clear, everything has to have its place and I need to know where all of my things are - even the smallest unimportant objects. Oh I didnt address your themes question. My therapist says I have a slight tendancy for perfectionism OCD. I think I fall into a category of people who feel compelled to rearrange things until they feel "right". Ive been reading some books NOCD recommends on their blog and find those to be helpful and educating. Its really a battle of learning how to dissect your thoughts and reprogram the patterns of anxiety. How one learns it can be up to the individual. So far I've been trying a combination of everything..

@Redrover I am being told the same hahaa! I am so so so happy I am not the only one... So you do have perfectionism and order and symmetry OCD? Could I ask what helped you? (Medication or therapy or both?) Thank you
@Natalia Z While Iām not Rodrover, I also experience the same type of OCD. For me, getting therapy through here has been sooooo helpful. Wayyy better than talk or other forms of therapy Iād done previously. For me, weāre doing exposure response prevention and basically that means I find things that āscreamā they need to be fixed/orderedā¦ and then I donāt do that action. PLUS Iāve started to purposefully leave some things not right- and itās showing me that I donāt have to do everything the ocd part of my brain tries to pressure me to do. 100% recommend getting started with a therapist who specializes in OCD exposure/response prevention therapy. Itās challenging, but the most helpful thing Iāve found/used.

I have been working with an NOCD therapist, for about a month now and really like the sessions we have been having and the resources available here. I feel like we have only done education and assessment so far because I have a lot going on but even that has been helping and relieved some anxiety. For meds I'm on Cymbalta for nerve pain. A side effect is it helps my anxiety and depression.
@Redrover Wish you a strong will and successful therapy sessions. I am on Sertraline and Quetiapine, it helps but there are still many issues I don t know how to combat
@Natalia Z Also wishing you strength. Recovery is not a straight path forward but it doesnt have a lonely one. One of the personal anecdotes I've been reading said that the final stages of recovery for her was being around other people to help prevent falling back into the paths of OCD thoughts. I felt like that realization really stuck with me.
I'm 29 and I was just diagnosed!
i just got diagnosed with OCD this past week. i've kinda always known that i have it. i used to have counting compulsions a lot in high school, i just didn't tell anyone. my biggest challenge as of late is cleaning and organizing. everything i see/am around has to be clean and orderly. does anyone have any tips for adapting to this?
I think I have OCD since last year but I just realized that Iāve got OCD this year even I havenāt been to any mental clinics or hospitals to test if I have OCD or not. I realized i have OCD this year when i watched movies or videos but i feel like to watch them again and again to check some specific sentences in that movie. Like if that video has subtitles and there are always have some phrases or sentences that make me read, look at every single words of that thing. Even sometimes i check that thing just want to know at the end of that sentence has a dot or comma, kind of like that, i know itās hard to describe about these situations for me even i know checking these things doesnāt help me anything in my life but the more i watch, read and focus at any details in anything i look so when i remember about something that i watched or red, if i cannot remember exactly all the words of that sentence in the movies, videos, post i feel like to check just know what it is again. Most of my compulsions are related to anything i look, watch or read in my phone. Even sometimes i feel like to check if that is just an account name of anyone, comments on social medias. And before i had so many bad problems with doing things to just āfeel rightā after i watched those movies and videos. There were some rules that came in my mind so when i watched them again - i had to click this, touch this, replay this over and over again in the video or even look at video duration at the end. There are so many things that i did before that i couldnāt describe enough but i just want to say i used to want to complete many missions in my mind to just feel right or feel completed. If i donāt complete that stupid mission (i called it stupid because i kept me stuck with my life), Iām gonna do it again and again whenever i free until i finish it. At the moments, i donāt have any stupid missions to do about those things i watched but still have some thoughts about them and want to check to know what they are. Can anyone help me with my problem about OCD? My English can not be really good as Iām not a native English speaker. Thanks.
I have a lot of compulsions that seem hoarding-esque but I canāt figure out which subtype of OCD they fall under. The two major drivers of this for me seem to be a fear that I will forget about them or the memories attached to them or that the things and their significance will be lost to time, and that I might need or want them in the future. I compulsively make lists of things (ex. things I like, things I donāt like, who I am, the contents of my ideal fridge - very plain with lots of fruit) just in case. I heart nearly every song I hear on Spotify (except the ones I actively strongly dislike, of which there are not many) just in case I will forget about them later on (and because I feel guilty about not hearting the song and supporting the artist if I have no valid reason not to but thatās a whole other can of worms). I have a couple containers of āgoodā boxes of all shapes and sizes that Iāve collected that, as it turns out, I never actually look at or use. When I was very little, before my family and I knew I had OCD, I had a āsticker bookā in which I would put every sticker I ever got - because I didnāt like the idea of putting them on anything that I might lose access to. I even found my motherās stamps and obsessively put one of each kind in my sticker book (there were soo many, it took me hours). I have trouble letting go of things, especially if I have any sort of memory attached to it whatsoever. Because, my mind says, what if I forget? My camera roll consists, in large part, of an enormous amount of screenshots of far too many little things that I encounter, and it is extremely rare that I actually look back at them. But the other data I was looking for something I thought I took a screenshot of and I couldnāt find it, so this compulsion is back and much worse. On my computer I canāt open the photos app without it crashing and the number of screenshots I have on there is shown in eight digits. I also have tens of thousands of tabs open in my browser at any given moment (I canāt close them, what if I forget?). I really wish I were exaggerating. I also take an excessive amount of photos of many things throughout my day (I counted once and I took 46 pictures of the same tree when I went on a walk). These are just some little examples of how this obsession manifests in me and my life. Does anyone else experience something similar? Iād love to hear about it.
