Medicine
Does anyone take any medicine to help with this? I started taking Prozac and it just seems to be alittle worse and head fog. Depression. Etc.

How long have you been on is? I take lexapro and it was a game changer. I tried to go without meds for a very long time. And it takes a few weeks to months to fully ramp up. And even then, your dose me need to be upped. Side affects, like depression, foggyness, etc, usually dissipate after the first month but talk to your psychiatrist if they don’t. A different medication may work better. Everyone’s chemistry is a little different.
@pureolife How long did lexapro take to work for you?
@Anonymous I’m 7 days in exactly.
@pureolife Lexapro was a game changer for me but destroyed my sex life
@Anonymous 2 weeks to see positive changes really
And I did get worsened depression. I would get it changed. I’m not saying you won’t have affects but I wouldn’t settle for feeling 10x worse or maybe lower the dose and work up to a bigger one. I wish they would have started me lower regardless of the adult dosing. Everyone is so different. Speak up for yourself and don’t be afraid.
I take celexa and it took about a month for the beside effects to subside (exhaustion, brain fog, increased anxiety). Been on it 3 months is and it’s been going pretty well.
I’m only on day 7 of Prozac and I’m having horrible time. Depression which I’ve never had. No appetite. Feeling out of body etc. we’re any of these normal side effects for you?
@Anonymous I already had moderate depression but didn’t notice it getting worse. I had terrible nausea and was exhausted all the time but those subsided after a few weeks.
@Anonymous Talk to your psychiatrist- there are plenty of other ssri meds out there.
I took Prozac for years. I rem my anxiety being worse for a couple of weeks. I don’t recall any depression. If that is new it wouldn’t hurt to call the prescribing dr and get their opinion.
i was on prozac for a little over a month and the side effects were pretty rough. my anxiety spiked and it gave me a bad headache. you have to give it enough time to run it’s course but if you’re not comfortable talk to whoever prescribed it. i’m now on zoloft (only a week in) and it’s seemed better so far
@mads33 Zoloft was so bad for me.
@Anonymous definitely talk to your doctor and discuss with them what you’re feeling. maybe you can try something else!
@mads33 I really thought about getting off of what I’m taking and start going to the gym and taking yoga classes!
@Anonymous if you think that is good for you, you know what’s best!! the gym and yoga will definitely help with mental health but can’t replace medication if you need it. but you know yourself better than anyone!!(:
I tried Zoloft and lexapro. Both terrible side effects. I began to have worse anxiety than I have in my entire life including disassociation. This is the part I do not like about these things. Go through so much junk to feel better and it heightened my ocd.
@Layla32 Zoloft caused me disassociate too!!!
@Anonymous I freaked out whenever it first happened lasted days. I’m still dealing with it through out the day. Did it ever go away once you stopped?
@Anonymous If you want my honesty no bc I got on Lexapro and that same feeling was there the whole time I was on that one too and I was on it almost 3 months with no change. I’ve been off them for 7 months now and my disassociation is coming less and less but it’s like I was in that state so long, my brain adapted to that type of thinking so to speak. Lol plus I had ocd and didn’t know it which made me obsess even more about what I was feeling on the meds. I just didn’t have it in me to continue trying after all that.
I’m working with a new psychiatrist for medication. She suggested both prozac or luvox. wondering what has worked for people or any suggestions
(25f) Before I was diagnosed with OCD I tried Lexapro (wasn’t bad but wasn’t great) and Citalopram (partially think it was a part of what caused me to develop severe anxiety that ignited my once not so active OCD.) After diagnosis tried Effexor and didn’t see an improvement. Was on Adderall for a good amount of my life and mentally did good on it, stopped about 2 years ago because the physical side effects started to become more noticeable. Maybe I go back on Adderall? Maybe SSRI’s and I aren’t a great fit? Anyone taking other medications that helped?
I am having a really hard time with ocd and anxious thoughts and feeling extremely uneasy. I'm home alone today so it's really easy for me to get stuck in my thoughts. I'm on day 4 of prozac. I felt like yesterday I had a period of time of about 30 minutes where I felt really focused and like the anxiety lifted completely. But then an obsession started and it brought me right back down. Hopefully I feel relief again today. I'm going to go get some house work done to take my mind off of things. Does anyone have any first hand experiences with prozac? How long until you felt any relief? Any really bad side effects? Any unforseen pluses? Much appreciated.
