Has one ever tried Prozac & it made it worse? And yes I’m going through meds with my doctor. But Prozac created another obsession for me and it’s HORRIBLE. I couldn’t sleep lastnight. It gives me horrible nightmares even when I just start closing my eyes to drift off to sleep. I’m super anxious in the morning. It’s messing with my OCD BAD.
Maybe SSRI's aren't what you need. Ask your Dr about Anafranil; its an older med. but it has proven to help with OCD and intrusive thoughts. takes about 4-8 weeks to see a change.... Prozac made me too jittery. Im currently on Zoloft ; it seems to help me, Im slowly upping my dose since I'm having allot of breakthrough anxiety and panic.
@jemcu812 Zoloft didn’t make me anxious it just gave me a lot of ocd thoughts I’ve never had. And then I ended up getting supper depressed out of nowhere one day and stopped it
@Anonymous - yeah - so SSRI's are probably not what works for you . There are others; ask your Dr about something different
I can’t speak on Prozac specifically, but I briefly tried a new SSRI hoping it would help and it made me SPIRAL. So being on the wrong meds for your specific brain chemistry can DEFINITELY cause ocd episodes
I am on Prozac and it hasn't made it worse however the psych that I met with told me that's a possibility. I'm sorry that that's happening and I hope that you're able to find meds that work for you. I'm also on hydroxyzine and I've heard a lot of people use Zoloft so there are definitely alternatives available.
@sjsmith98 I tried Zoloft too. It made it worse for me unfortunately:( and super depressed. how long have you been on Prozac for? And what’s the dosage that you use?

@Anonymous Yup the hydro is for as needed! I'm on 20 mg for Prozac. I've been on it for about a month and a half now
@sjsmith98 It didn’t make your ocd worse? Or when it did you took the other medication
I’m on Prozac and it did make mine suicidal thoughts worse

@Anonymous My therapist said to just wait it out but after a while it still didn’t help so I stopped and now I’m on lexapro which is more helpful for me
@Cheese How long have you been on lexapro? Any dude effects?
@Anonymous I’ve been on lexapro for about 2 years now and haven’t had any side effects
Prozac didn't work for me tbh. It was the 1st thing we tried and nothing really changed. But that was just my experience.

Haldol seemed to work for me when I was hospitalized. So far, so goodm

@Anonymous Yes it's an anti psychotic. Definitely helped for when episodes came on. You can take it as needed but I was prescribed it every night by my physician.

I used Prozac for a little under a year it worked pretty good. The only complaint is that for a few days after starting I felt horrible and empty but once I got passed that I felt great.

@Anonymous It helped my ocd after around a week and worked well while I used it for that year. I had contamination ocd and religious ocd when I started using it. Using the medication alone helped a lot with the anxiety and got me to a point where I could feel normal and function again and when paired with the erp therapy I basically got rid of the contamination ocd. I also currently use trintellix which i have liked more than Prozac. Also for about a day or 2 in the beginning of using Prozac I felt depressed, hopeless and like the world was going to end.
Hey! I just started Prozac and I’m on day 4 or 5 and I’m feeling super anxious and having mini panic attacks, is this normal? I know my psychiatrist said anxiety will raise for the first two weeks but I just wanna know if this happened to anyone else. I’m also super tired Thanks 😊
I was diagnosed with OCD and I started Prozac 10 days ago. I have struggled with intrusive taboo sexual thoughts for 12+ years (I’m 24) but now I feel like it’s turning into feelings. I’ve never done anything to anyone or nor do I wish to ever. I am just scared of my own brain if this is something I actually want. My psychiatrist said I should feel better/start getting clarity after 2 weeks. But I keep feeling worse and worse. Anyone else has experience with Prozac and how it went for them?
I am having a really hard time with ocd and anxious thoughts and feeling extremely uneasy. I'm home alone today so it's really easy for me to get stuck in my thoughts. I'm on day 4 of prozac. I felt like yesterday I had a period of time of about 30 minutes where I felt really focused and like the anxiety lifted completely. But then an obsession started and it brought me right back down. Hopefully I feel relief again today. I'm going to go get some house work done to take my mind off of things. Does anyone have any first hand experiences with prozac? How long until you felt any relief? Any really bad side effects? Any unforseen pluses? Much appreciated.
