My dog ate my earplug

My dog has a habit of eating my earplugs, and when he has he just poops it out. My mom told me to be more careful with my earplugs and I have been but I left it out yesterday and there was only one earplug on my bedside table so I think he ate one. It’s giving me so much anxiety because I’m worried it’ll block his intestinal track. He’s pooped twice since then and there hasn’t been an earplug, but online some websites say it can take up to a few days. I’m really worried and I’m scared if something happens it’ll be all my fault. But I think if he did have blockage he would show signs so I’ll know if I need to take him to the vet. This is stressing me out so much

Signs of a foreign body include but aren't limited to vomiting and diarrhea (at the same time), drooling, not eating and a super increase In thirst. If you're talking about 1 ear plug that like construction people use, it's more than likely fine. But if you have a tiny tiny pet like until 10lbs then there can be some problems. Just be more careful. I have seen a pet become blocked when they ate a large container of them. It happens rather fast. (Within 3 days)

It's okay to be concerned for your pet. If you're very concerned you can take your pet to the vet for an xray. But again, unless showing symptoms, I would wait it out.

@Scaredallday He’s a dachshund mix, 15 pounds, and is approx a little over a year old. I didn’t see him eat it but assuming he did it would’ve been just one earplug, and they’re the kind used to sleep with so they’re fairly tiny. I think it’s a good sign that he’s eaten this type before and pooped it out so I’m hoping he just eventually poops it out. So I’ll monitor that and if any symptoms come up. I think it’ll be fairly obvious if he isn’t feeling well because he’s very energetic and food driven. Can it take a couple days for him to poop it out? Idk whether i should be concerned that he hasn’t pooped it out yet. It was approx 11am yesterday that he supposedly ate it

@nocduser253637473 Okay due to pet size please please please try your best not to let it occur anymore. Just because he's passed it before doesn't mean he will again. If he hasn't already popped it out he will very soon. Are you checking his poop? I would just for a small peice of mind. I would highly suggest insurance on him. Foreign body surgery is anywhere from $1500-$2500 and insurance will cover most of it. If you happen to have some GI protection food. I would give it to him. For example hill's science diet i/d. If not that's fine don't give him anything different from normal food. I would also teach the command "leave it"

Pet insurance is good to have in general too bc you never know what might happen and I feel like a good bit of the population doesn't have 6k on hand for pet emergencies. It's a great protection plan. Maybe $30 a month or less. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it! :)

Also just for the record I'm not a doctor but I've had plenty of experience with FB during my 2+ years. As well as my own pet who really struggled with pica her whole life.

@Scaredallday Thanks for your help! And yeah I think I’ll either stop using earplugs or strictly keep them away where he can’t reach them. And yes I’ve been checking his poop and there’s been 2 so far and he hasn’t pooped it out. I’m hoping he will soon

@Scaredallday What if he doesn’t poop it out but doesn’t have symptoms either? Or do you think one or the other will happen?

@nocduser253637473 I mean if he doesn't poop it out there's an off chance it's in his stomach still. Or maybe it even dissolved. Follow up with your vet if it doesn't make an appearance in the next 24hrs

I'm kind of panicking about cat feces

So earlier I posted this.. "I had socks on and I stood on something kind of hard, and I looked at what it was and I couldn't tell if it was like a tiny piece of poop (from cat) or chocolate or something. I took my socks off obviously but now I'm worried that 1) I should wash my feet and 2) I should change my trousers because they kind of trail on the floor a bit. I just don't know what to do." And I'm still really panicking. Because I've been in my bed – I napped. My trousers and my feet have been in my bed. And I just don't know what the "right" thing to do is. My brain is telling me I need to accept uncertainty. Fine. But then the logical side of my brain is telling me "YOU COULD HAVE POOP ON YOU. LIKE SERIOUSLY COME ON ANYONE WOULD WASH THEIR FEET". I have no idea what to do. I'm so stressed.

I’m losing it

My brain keeps telling me to cover my dogs nose and suffocate him.:. I’ve covered his nose before for 10 seconds and idk why I kept doing it like am I trying to kill him is it a compulsion UGH I CANT LIVE LIKE THIS , I’m trying not to post on here but it’s nice to know others input if I’m a psycho or not …. Reassurance is sometimes needed idc what anyone says .

I really don’t know what to do with myself anymore

(21+ ONLY: TRIGGER WARNING) I love my dog. He just turned seven months old yesterday. But sometimes, I get so frustrated. I came home from work and I just wanted to sit down and relax and watch my favorite TV show. But then he started jumping on me, barking, and getting into things he shouldn’t be. On top of that, I was feeling lightheaded because I haven’t been taken Zoloft lately, which is completely my fault and irresponsible of me. My dog got into a laundry basket and tipped it over, spilling all the clothes on the floor and grabbing a pair of socks. I just lost it, at that point. I chased him and yelled at him and as I went to grab the socks from him, I thought about hitting him. I don’t think I did, but I don’t know. Either way, I’m truly disgusted with myself. I hate that that was my first automatic thought. What is wrong with me? I put him in his kennel for time out and I completely just lost it. I started crying and hyperventilating. I feel horrible for feeling sorry for myself when I’m not the one hurting here. I’m truly a disgusting manipulative POS that deserves to be locked away forever
