Would anyone like to share a funny thing their ocd has made them think? There’s just a lot of sad stories on here and I though it might be nice to let in some silliness ✨🌼 Personally, my ocd made me believe that I should feel just as in love when I looked at my boyfriend’s shins, elbows, arms etc as when I looked at his face.
Comedy and humor is some of the best free medicine!
In hindsight, there was dry comedy in how some of the doctors reacted to my fears when I was deep in the throes of Health Concern OCD. It wasn't funny at the time, but I can't help but smile a little when I look back. From a dermatologist: "What have you found this time?" From a primary care doc, after I had made him examine my genitals for a tiny lump that he couldn't even find: "How about I record this as a 'skin problem'?" From an ER doc: "I don't need to do any tests to know you don't have mad cow disease." That last one was actually one of the most deeply, blessedly reassuring things anyone has ever said to me. Of course it only made me feel better for a short while. As I've said before, I don't feel too bad about annoying these doctors because it's not like they didn't get paid.
@Dorbzeldge I had a tiny testicle lump they couldn’t even find too. Obviously they had to touch down there to look and I was begging them to look again. The doctor laughed at me lol.
@Newb82 Even though I know doctors deal with this kind of thing pretty often, it still feels so good to find someone else willing to admit they were That Patient.

It gets worse until it reaches a point where I’m like even I ain’t believing that and it makes me laugh. Like nah, even I ain’t that dumb.
@Newb82 Oh and I took a very clearly dead hedgehog to the vets. I mean it’s guts were hanging out, itv was stiff, cold and had flies on it. That makes me laugh. The people at the vets were very nice about it but they must have laughed about it afterwards.

😂 I love yours, that's amazing - "I love you the most when I look at your elbows 🥰" the Valentine's card just writes itself, you know? My OCD is regularly so stupid. It gets me in the moment but later I realize how absurd it was and it makes zero sense how I could have been anything other than dismissive of it!
I also tried using a piece of equipment at the gym that was totally uneven. Plus the lines on the ceiling were going a different direction. It bugged me so much I almost didn’t use it. When I realized it was a trigger. I burst out laughing. I can find the quirky ones a bit humorous. I need to learn how to laugh at the catastrophic ones.
I wasn’t sure I had ocd, so I tested it. My wife just recovered from Covid. I noticed I was avoiding the coat she wore during quarantine. So I touched it all over, and the. Touched my face and licked my fingers. I instantly got a severe case of the willies. I laughed it off and said: yup I definitely have it.
I got bit by a horse at a ranch when I was 11 and didn’t get any shots and then 10 years later I thought I was going to get rabies and die a painful death. Got hospitalized and everyone told me it was impossible to get it and looked at me like I was crazy. I got over it now but it does sound silly now that I’m over it.
I’ve seen wayyyy too many negative posts on here (I totally get it)…but can someone please share some positive experiences? Doesn’t have to be so grand, it could be just that you achieved a small goal with your ocd! I don’t want to continue feeling drowned by this debilitating disorder. I want to see what has helped some of you! So we can all encourage each other! 😊
I think it's important to be able to make fun of yourself and joke about these things, so, just for fun, what's the silliness obsession you've had? Here's mine: when I was six I convinced myself that my overdue library books would create a butterfly effect that would end the world
I'm sry if this may make people worry or feel uncomfortable in advance! Hello everyone as u can see I struggle with ocd and I HATE IT WITH MY LIFE , it started in 2020 covid obv contamination ocd started here , I used to carry alcohol everywhere and used to wash my hands so much that it bled ( had to wear gloves to cover it so friends or family won't see it ) and everything else started since then , harm ocd with myself or friends I couldn't hold a knife..it was really hard..and I have unwanted sexual thoughts ocd , I have panic attacks bc of this..I sometimes cannot look people into their eyes and its so random and so scary..thoughts about.. 🍇..whether it's me or I'm gonna harm someone else uk..I sometimes cannot function properly.. unfortunately friends don't understand it rather think it's about " perfectionism "..I wrote those thoughts and stuff in a journal in more details ofc and doodle ( I'm scared someone will find it ) I hate myself tbh and I don't think someone will read this... I suspect I have ADHD with all this but ocd is " ur faking it " even though lots of people have hinted about it , I thought I actually killed someone for 2 years a girl..until I realized what HOCD is , I thought I faked my ocd too in fact , I have perfectionism ocd too it's bad and I HATE PURE O it's so DRAINING uk.. also idk if this has caused a problem for anyone but if y'all know the Truman show ( basically if u don't know the main character is being filmed and his life is fake and he doesn't know it ) THAT MOVIE HAS HARMED ME SO BADLY FOR YEARS that until today I have to check in the bathroom if there are cameras cuz like ocd makes me think I'm living in a fake world , I used to think people around me , everyone was like a Ai model or smth.. everytime until today I have to clean the toilet seat bc it may be dirty..I have been taking up to 5 showers a day cuz maybe I'm dirty..that's it for today tysm if u read this till the end I'd like to know ur thoughts if u got tips or have similar experiences ! 🤗 U get a chocolate bar 🍫 bc u earned it bc ik how ocd is so frustrating ( I also noticed everyone who has ocd is so nice right 😆! )
