Academic Crisis

So I'm going through an Academic Crisis & i have no idea when this will end, this is ongoing for a long time & the Main Culprit is my Brain. I have Executive Dysfunction so i can't start task, can't complete task, can't be productive no matter what. My every task is incomplete or i couldn't even start the task. Upon that Intrusive Thoughts Eat My Mind & then My brain hurts and it gets messed up & i can't study..... Final Exam in 5 days & i don't know anything anymore I don't know where i will end up at last because of this Crisis...

I know what you’re describing because I go through the same. And the feeling of executive dysfunction is SO overwhelming and infuriating. (For me I have it due to mental health, and also not enough nutrients/vitamins/exercise for my body which is also due to mental health). Someone in groups said if a task feels overwhelming it could be because the first step is too big. Maybe your first step is creating a new work space environment, even just organizing your desk nicely and changing the lighting, finding a new focus music playlist, maybe a nice cup of coffee, and making that second step of starting to study more appealing. As silly as it sounds, it also helps me to get some new things like pens I like to write with or a nice highlighter or paper to take notes on which also helps make studying more appealing. Sometimes little things like that, together, can help. If you’re doing mostly computer based work, see if there are some parts you can print out and having physically in front of you, to help prevent you from zoning out in front of your computer the whole time. Or finding a library or shared cozy study space you can go to. And having a nice morning routine so it’s not just this dreadful evening task you’re trying to do when you’re tired. I know some people who also use the app FocusMate.

Thank you. Yes starting the task is the most hardest. I tried a lot of things but i still struggle. It will take time to strengthen it i guess. It's really hard i wish it Gets better for you 👍

I’m so sorry, I know exams are important but your well being is of greater importance. Maybe try talking to your teachers at school? explaining how difficult it has been for you? with ocd these external stresses can be so so hard to deal with, knowing ur simultaneously battling ur own mind. I’m proud of you for just being and trying. trying is an accomplishment in in of itself

@stutisharma05 I'm Bangladeshi not Indian so I'm in 10th but according to India's educational system that's equal to 12th class So after this board exam my School life will be over.

But you're a Doctor 😭😂 at least you have a job.. I know doctors still have a lot of studies But if this continues i will never able to do anything in my life as i still haven't finished School Well i hope it gets better for you...

@Have Some Chocolate 🍫 Take a half day break ( talk to ur friends, parents or watch movies or watch free youtube study sessions ) Then start studying , Start trying pomodoro method , Theres lot of free pomodoro apps available, Only 5 days left means u should do frequently asked questions/ previously asked questions Every exam has significant weightage of faq/paq. Practice mindfulness I can understand the situation

@osler the ocd fighter Thanks, i do the pomodoro but still i can't function. I even procrastinate to set the timer. You know i have task paralysis so most of the time i can't even start the task or even if i do it remains incomplete. Everything is incomplete. I have planners on phone i even write the to do list i even have set corkboard Everything to just complete the work but i still can't do It's really hard, i wish i acknowledged my EFD some Two months ago... I spent a lot of time suspecting i have ADHD but i could not meet with the diagnosis criteria so i thought maybe i was just lazy and shameless and neurotypical ways would work.. Why everyone could get shit done and not me 😂 I just came to know this a few days ago. When i acknowledged this i still had some 20 days before exam... I tried a lot of method but I'm still struggling And now there's just 5 days 😂 Who Knows how i will spend these days I guess it will take time to strengthen the executive functions
