Think of IT as your illness not as if you re doing that on purpose

Thats a good advice. How do you handle bad thoughts? They come so suddenly and make me feel guilty and recently I had the idea to let them pass. Because I always analyze the thoughts afterwards and that makes me feel more guilty when I get deeper into the thoughts.

Of course I know its very hard to ignore them. They key thing is to start treating the anxiety which those thoughts evoke. Cos OCD is anxiety disorder. Are You taking any meds?

And the next thing No analyzing no figuring them out

No I dont take meds. My only "challenge" now is religious ocd. When I was a child I also had some other issues like when I wont do xy my mother will die. I also did some compulsions but now I managed all of them basically now its more mental.

I've been doing more research on the ins and outs of Catholicism, and man are the guidelines very strict. They're not bad in any sense, and following them makes for a good person, but with ocd these guidelines seem near impossible to properly follow. For example, it's a mortal sin to have an impure thought, and commiting a mortal sin puts you in a state of sin. This means you cannot receive the eucharist (body of Christ) at mass, which is a way to connect closer to God. You have to confess in order to be free from mortal sin. This is fine and all, but this means in my case I'd have to confess almost every week, which can be so tiring. I'm not trying to bash on my own religion, but these guidelines make it so incredibly difficult for me to feel good about myself. Knowing I'm committing one of the worst forms of sin everyday. Intrusive thoughts are a constant thing, does that make me a child of sin? I even skipped mass today because I feel guilty about being in mortal sin, but skipping mass is also a mortal sin! I feel absolutely terrible about myself right now, and feel as if my connection with God has been cut and it's entirely my fault...

Please help anyone else here with Religious ocd and is a Christian? My brain is going hay-wire and want to know I'm not alone... what do your thoughts say and how do you overcome compulsions? Im going through a rough moment and feel sick with anxiety and stiff. I want to obey God but my thoughts won't stop. I surrender to the Lord and then I have peace with the compulsions and they go away but the thoughts are the scary part please - is this spiritual or is it mental? Or is it both? Would love to hear a Christians opinion on this... because my thoughts latch on and won't dissappear but I know that the Bible commands us to take control of our thoughts and to renew our minds...yet God has grace for this and mercy for our every need... I know God is in control (completely) and my mind creates a lot of the issues for me without any spiritual stuff (it's a very powerful thing) but it's still scary. Lord help me, I surrender myself to you Jesus, counsel my soul and help me.

Hi! I have Religious OCD, and have been recently needing some tips on how to deal with this painful disorder. I constantly feel like God is telling me to do certain things for example, βdonβt go there,β or βdonβt do this or else it will be against my plan for your life.β This causes me so much anxiety, and makes me question if I am doing the right things to live according to his will for my life. Iβm constantly worried Iβm disappointing Him. Also while praying I get thoughts in my head saying I should for example, add for religious practices to my routine. This also causes me stress because while dealing with this disorder, daily religious practices become very overwhelming. Iβm worried that if I ignore these thoughts during my prayer, I am ignoring God. I have truly hit a limit where I donβt even know what to do, and am searching for some tips if anybody on here has any. Letβs overcome this OCD together. Thank you
