Personally I drink 1 to 2 coffees a day with no negative issues . When possible I mix it half decaffeinated and half caffeinated.
@777Q I’m drinking basically straight caffeine. Preworkout before I go to jiujitsu to pump me up 😂 but the crash brings a lot of anxiety.
@Christiansg2_3 Jiu Jitsu is amazing for OCD! It’s relieves so much anxiety. I love it!
@bige683 - I really enjoy it. Building self defense and helping get over the worries.
I have ADHD so coffee helps me feel calmer.
When you are medically clear to return to it , I bet you will enjoy it . It has so many positive mental and physical benefits. Years ago I took up a little Tae Kwon Do for the mental and physical health and benefits.
You know our brain works with neurotransmitters I think caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant, so you me and any other person can experience the”fight or flight “ more active , the things is that I can be harder for us with OCD
How long have you been training ? That is a Brazilian self defense?
@777Q Around 3 months & yes, brazilian jiujitsu. I love it. I actually am supposed to be taking a break from it for a few weeks because I partially torn my rotator cuff, but it’s hard for me to stay away from.
for sure. for me, caffeine is a lot like alcohol. it gives me a temporary blast of good-feeling, but on the comedown, it’s worse than it was before. last time i had coffee i experienced a relapse in symptoms. i’m not even supposed to have caffeine either for other medical reasons, so i just try to cut it all out. but i definitely see where you’re coming from, i experience the same thing
Yes, I usually drink energy drinks or even pre workouts, at first I feel great not even intrusive thoughts but afterwards it gives you lots of anxiety
Man, there really is nothing but ERP to relieve the anxiety. Sometimes even though I feel like I'm living in ERP I still get super stressed and just want a bit of relief.
Really?? I’m scared to drink it since being in this current rabbit hole. I just want to enjoy my morning coffee again 😩😩
I read somewhere it effects everyone differently, so it may not make you anxious. Even if you get stressed there's a plus side, you get to work on extra ERP I guess
@Christiansg2_3 I guess. Only I’m just getting started. My anxiety is crippling in the mornings along with guilt. Drinking coffee to me seems like it would add fuel to the fire.
@October12 I started drink decaf coffee and tea, it doesn’t taste the same and for some reason I’m still expecting it to make me anxious even though it has no caffeine and sometimes it feels like I still get anxious after drink decaf coffee/tea because I’m still believing I will get anxious from drinking coffee/tea it’s weird
My brain chills out when I'm caffeinated too, even before intrusive thoughts and rumination I experience.
Every tine. I stoppes drinking caffeine as a result. Right after drinking it I felt good and a burst of energy. After it wears off though, my anxiety and ocd is worse.
@Raider916 That’s exactly what happens to me. When I’m drinking it, I feel invincible. Afterward, Im feeling terrible
Yes! Its a great feeling, and I wish we could feel that often. Every time I think its ok, I end up regreting drinking caffeine. I feel like the anxiety that comes after isnt worth it. Its like twice the average anxiety.
Yea same with me that’s why I stopped drinking coffee
I have panic disorder, and OCD and anxiety. Does anyone else ever feel just off the edge all the time? Like I always feel like something’s off or something’s gonna happen. I don’t know how to explain the feeling. But I always feel off and when I feel off I panic
I think it's just anxiety, but I've been experiencing random bouts of anxiety around the evenings, usually around 8pm is when it kicks in. Is there an explanation for this? My head will feel cold and I'll start to feel dizzy and sick. Sometimes I worry it could be my eating habits.
I gave up caffeine to help w my anxiety/panic attacks, and it’s been great so far. However, I loooove the taste of coffee so I occasionally treat myself to a decaf latte or even like a quarter cup of coffee (like maybe 3oz just a couple sips). However, MY ANXIETY GOES THROUGH THE ROOF???? 😭😭😩 Is this me being a hypochondriac and it’s just placebo??? I’m barely drinking any caffeine.
