A little reminder about avoidance :)
I heard this thing today … I can’t remember it word for word … BUT when you tell your OCD/anxiety that in order to be safe you have to avoid - for example if you have harm/sexual thoughts avoiding your fears - you are telling your brain that this is something to fear. When you avoid you close yourself off, it’s inevitable that you will feel more fear about the experience and it will lead u to isolate and attach meaning to things you avoid. You are telling your brain “I have to avoid x or y will happen” the only way to retrain your brain to see there is nothing to fear is to get out there and test yourself. Show up for yourself 💛 don’t go to crazy too quickly but ERP is the way to show your brain that it isn’t as bad/dangerous as what’s in your head. Recovery isn’t linear. LIVE FOR THE HOPE OF IT ALL ✨✨
