Compulsively asking the same questions will not get you better, sadly. Are you able to see a therapist

try to resist the urge to come here asking for reassurance next time. try to let the feelings exist. anxiety is your body's way of trying to protect you from danger, and these thoughts are not dangerous. try to remember that and just let the anxiety exist. your body knows how to calm down. you just have to give it space to do so.

@DGP-rider555 maybe you do. and if you do, that's 100% okay. or maybe you don't. plenty of people feel that way. you may never know 100% for sure. sexuality often is not black or white. it's better to just let the thoughts exist thank try to stop them. you can't stop thoughts of any kind. when you give thoughts this kind of attention, you give them more power. it takes practice, but I believe in you. anxiety is your body's way of trying to protect you from something it has decided is scary. let your body know that you are safe by not taking actions to stop the thoughts or feelings. let the feelings and thoughts exist. try to resist the compulsion to post here and ask for reassurance. try to resist the urge to check and make sure the thoughts mean something. thoughts can just be thoughts.

I believe in you. sometimes thoughts are just thoughts. maybe you like them. maybe you don't.

@DGP-rider555 as long as you are engaging in compulsions, you can't understand. no answer will ever be good enough for OCD. you have to accept the uncertainty. I know it is hard but I believe in you. if you fight the anxiety and keep trying to solve the problem of what your thoughts mean any time you feel anxious, you will keep getting stuck

@DGP-rider555 I really think you’ve gotten all of the advice you’re going to get on this platform, but you don’t seem to want to listen to any of it. You’ve tried reassurance seeking, you’re absolutely ruminating, so what is the harm in trying something else?

@DGP-rider555 This feeling of being unsure and wishing you could have certainty is a hallmark of OCD. You know what you want to be true — that you like women. Ignore whatever OCD has to say about it and let it pass.

@DGP-rider555 OCD recovery IS accepting the uncertainty, though. Regardless of context. You might think “oh if I just figure this out, then it’ll get better,” but it’s the opposite. OCD doesn’t work with logic. The more you try to figure it out, the stronger it’ll get because you’re spending so much time engaging with these “what if” questions. Trying to figure out “is this ocd or not” is classic ocd. It’s mental checking, which is a compulsion. Everyone here is in the same boat, and has been through similar situations. We really just want to help you.
