Thank you for this. I've noticed that some people can have traits of OCD, but not everyone with those traits HAS OCD (ex traits: intrusive thoughts, the need to stay organized/clean, fear of getting sick, etc because a lot of people have those traits just not to the extent of those who have OCD). To say that "everyone is a little OCD" is extremely harmful to those who actually suffer because it causes more stereotypes. I'm so tired of people talking about their OCD subtypes and intrusive thoughts just to get hate and backlash for something they can't control. I wish all types of OCD were more talked about and "normalized" on social media.

Unfortunately, stigmas like these give our society a false representation of what OCD is. However, I am hopeful that our NOCD community can help others gain a true picture of what OCD really is and how distressing it can be.

My House is a mess. I have ADHD and my OCD thoughts got much worse after ADHD medication. If I hear one more person say, People with OCD are just so tidy and we all have a little OCD I'm going insane.

You should see my car. I need things CLEAN, but my car isn't. I need help cleaning it out, but my OCD limits who and how that can be done, and my boyfriend says he'll do things, but years go by and they don't get done.

@HorrorQueen I really think OCD needs to be tricked. It is such an Piephole that sucks, maybe you can clean your car on step at a time even if OCD tries to tell you otherwise. It's Bad and scary but I believe in you.

@Mins I'm afraid it's more complicated than that. I'm physically disabled and I have no way to clean up from that. I also have an infection I was just diagnosed with. The room I'm stuck in has several light bulbs out, is very dusty, has a broken phone outlet, and the motel recently got new owners and I'm starting to see roaches (I'm hoping they were just two or three that got in). The ceiling tile in the bathroom over the shower became discolored (possibly moldy) and bloated because of water leaking from the pipes (the previous owner told my boyfriend it was "condensation"), which he finally replaced when they did a renovation, replacing the tub with a walk-in shower, but soon that tile became discolored/moldy and bloated, and he replaced it again. Same thing happened. Several days ago, after the new owners took over, I heard a sound in the bathroom. Turned out the ceiling tile burst open and there were pieces of it all over the shower floor. I think it was my boyfriend who picked up the pieces (otherwise, housekeeping on housekeeping day), but now there's a big hole in the tile, and you can see the pipes.

I feel the same way, but I saw a YouTube video that has me trying to just let them do what they're going to do. I'm having trouble with it, because I feel like they should be called out on it. Some people just don't understand but are willing to learn. Others don't understand and don't care. And there are probably people who know and don't care. Most, if not all, of those have OCD themselves, actually. That's the only way you can truly understand. Some people without OCD are capable of understanding OCD is extremely distressing, though. The guy in the video said you're not going to stop them. I have a problem with that, though, because while we haven't stopped people from saying cruel and insensitive things, we have made it more unacceptable in society. Certain terms that refer to people's ability to learn, their race, their gender, etc., have become shameful to use by most. In that sense, the fight seems worth it. On the other hand, if I can keep from getting angry and stressed, that's beneficial to me, too.
