hi, have you talked to your parents about what you’re going through?

How about speaking to a councellor at school or a teacher? Just remember that you’re not alone and that you will be ok. Stay strong

Its normal to be scared, just remember that teachers are there to help you. If you tell them you do not wish for your parents to know about it then im sure that will be respected. Maybe try talking to your parents again and explain how you feel in detail

Don't be scared, your parents and other adults will understand you. I was also scared initially to open up cause I thought my parents would get mad, but they were understanding.

As an Asian myself I can relate to you. Did you tell them your symptoms?

Talk to your school counselor. If you think he/she won't understand, talk to a teacher that you think will understand or maybe your favorite teacher. Have you talked to your dad as well?

Hi Pea, I started showing signs of OCD when I was 6 years old. I wish my parents would have taken me seriously but they didn’t either. Even though it was very obvious something was wrong with me. When I was 7, I didn’t eat for an entire month because I was afraid “something was stuck in my throat.” I lost a lot of weight. Even through all of that, which they knew about, they still just thought I was being a kid. Weirdly enough, ocd disappeared for me after that for a while. But when I turned 18 a few years ago, it all came crashing down. My ocd got so bad, I was afraid to drink the water. It was crazy. I got jaundice because of it. I was afraid to eat food too worried about it being contaminated so I lost a lot of weight again. I got lucky and snapped out of it with the help of my boyfriend. But it took years to get to where I am now and I’ll never be totally “normal.” I am telling you all of this because you know what the doctors told me? That when you treat OCD as a kid, your chances of making a full recovery are very high. This is because they treat the brain while it is still developing. Once we are adults... well... there is not as much success. About 10% chance I or any of these adults will ever make a full recovery and live a life completely free of OCD according to a few sources. If you get treatment as a kid, chances of full recovery are above 50% I believe. However, even as adults we can still get it to be very mild. Mine is very mild at this point and I am doing great. But if my parents would have just listened... maybe I wouldn’t have even had it as an adult. The best time to attack your OCD is now, before it “crystallizes in your brain” as my doctor would say. So if you can stomach it, try your hardest to tell an adult that can help you at school. I do not want what happened to me to happen to anyone else.
