@ocd_sufferer8 As for your parents not being supportive, if you don’t mind being vulnerable, can I ask why? I had the same worries when I started therapy so maybe I can help you.

@ocd_sufferer8 To put it bluntly, my dad ignores my problems and would react horribly and not understand, whilst my mom acknowledges my problems for a second and then the next day pretends they're a part of life and to just deal with it/pretend it's not a awful thing to go through. Both don't talk about their feelings or know how to communicate, come from cultures where there is a huge stigma around mental illness and therapy, and one time, my mom told me "Therapy is for psychopaths. Are you a psychopath?" So, you can understand my dilemma and hesitancy.

Thank you for the informative reply! Do you by chance know how NOCD operates with college health insurance?

My college is a big college and while I know they offer mental health services, I know they are overwhelmed with students. But the other person's response solidified that I should pursue the college health insurance, get their mental health services to recommend a local therapist, and I can go from there. It'd be good to see if NOCD takes it but I'm unsure.

@Sero82 Keep in mind that talk therapy is not good for OCD.

@Sero82 Because most talk therapy turns into the compulsion of reassurance, at least it did for me. I was in talk therapy for years and it actually made my OCD worse. ERP is the only thing I’ve found that truly helps

@0876 Definitely, that's the plan. I'm going to ask for their guidance and recommendations. Possibly someone to talk to while I await for long term arrangements.
