But overall I'm a very honest person. I try to be anyway.. But I have told a few lies or made up excuses because of my ocd. Aside from the ocd I wouldn't say I lie about anything in life

I wouldn't say lie alot but in some ways maybe yes I don't know, tough question. I often make up excuses to get out of certain situations I don't want to be in. What Exactly do you mean?

personally, I think that everyone lies all the time and that‘s totally okay, actually really normal? though at least that‘s an observation I did myself, I think insecure people tend to lie more... and with ocd we kind of get insecure, don‘t we...

Not to argue but it's not OK to lie all the time and it's not normal. It's a very unhealthy way of living.

sorry I‘ll correct myself... psychology major here? so what I meant is that we humans tend to lie all the time, not because we want to do harm, not at all... if I took the bus to work and my mum asks me „hei sweety, did you take the train to work, is everything all right?“ than we humans would just go „yeah everything‘s all right“ because correcting oneselves takes time and often our lies are just not that important or we do not want to discuss it... „are you feeling good?“ „yeah waht about you“ but inside we are like, I‘m actually pretty tired and my stomach hurts but you do not want to hear this right now so I just say I‘m doing all right even though that‘s a lie... I think personally I do this a lot, small lies that have no consequence whatsoever, did you remember to wash the dishes, upsi I forgot but will say yes I did the dishes and do it afterwards to avoid conflict all I wanted to say (and that‘s how I understood the question)is that everyone tells small lies, white lies and also straight up lies it‘s normal it‘s what we humans start to do at the age of 3... that does not mean it is okay to lie or lie for your benefit or the ill of others, but it happens and one should not beat oneself up because of it, it‘s a normal behaviour that everyone does multiple times a day and that‘s okay... and in regards to ocd and this whole forum: it‘s kind of hear to tell people not to worry, that it is okay, that telling lies is normal as long as you are not causing harm to others... The statement „you should not lie“ at least in my opinion can be a real ocd trigger so I think it is important to show that a behaviour that all humans exhibit such as lying is totally normal and part of our daily lives I‘m sorry if you understood my message wrong and I hope this helps✨

maybe another example that illustrates my point further: your best friend gets a new haircut and is really enthusiastic about it, you first thought: oh my god this looks awful... she asks you how you like it, so in this situation you like everybody else will go like „I like it“ because you do not want to offend your friend.... or will be like „I wouldn‘t have gotten it myself but I suits you and you look happy which makes me happy“ what this illustrates is that humans do lie we do it all the time multiple times a day, it is normal everyone does it, so one should not worry about it as long as one does not lie in order for others to suffer... I just wanted to show that lying belongs to everyday life and is a normal behaviour
