Some days it gets really bad and other days it's not here at all. I don't know what's wrong with me. I was sick like weeks ago but I'm just left with this annoying cough that won't go away. This happened last summer but it went away. I can't help but look things up. I just hate this annoying cough.
Are you asthmatic by chance? This exact thing happens to me and the cough lingers because of my asthma even a month after I get sick. Usually non-dangerous and just annoying at most. I have family members who aren't asthmatic but get chronic cough as well just due to allergies. Either of those affect you?
No, I don't think so. But, I did have really bad shortness of breath last summer to what I can only assume was high anxiety and the heat. I didn't go through that again though. I just really can't stand being in the summer. I was fine before the summer came I think. I'm worried it has to do with my addiction because of risky behaviors I had
@BigGip09 I wouldn't overthink it! If you've had it before and it went away its likely the same will happen. I'm NOT a doctor by any means but I have seen that usually chronic cough is caused by one of three things, none of which are life threatening and clear up on their own overtime. If you're being affected by the weather + breathing issues from anxiety then it sounds like it's just a seasonal thing? You can always contact your doctor about it but from my experience, unless it's getting severe overtime or you're having other concerning symptoms they're going to tell you to take over the counter medicine or just wait to see if it leaves on its own. Just monitor it and make your move from there.
@Northern_Downpour I think the only way it can get severe is if I'm coughing a lot more or if blood shows up but that hasn't happened. Phlegm came up and I saw one little red dot but got more phlegm out and it was clear. You and a friend said it could be a seasonal cough. I'm still surprised something like that could exist, but it's a possibility. Now that I'm much more calm and drinking after, it's not coming up. When I'm talking a lot that's usually when it's present. It's so weird. How are you doing?
@BigGip09 Even then, Blood can be in mucus just from irritation of the throat from coughing 😂 I think as long as it's not a lot and not frequent you're fine. Seasonal cough sounds about right, just make sure you're drinking fluids, resting, etc. Anyways, I'm good thanks for asking !! 😊 I had ERP therapy today and it went decently well. Still dealing with anxiety from an obsession relate to my real events but it's not dehabilitaing or anything, so just trying to relax. Hope things are better for you today than they were yesterday!!
@Northern_Downpour It's only about 2 to 3 coughs when it does come up. I really hope it's a seasonal thing. Though, I don't think I felt like this years ago during summer so maybe it has to do with my anxiety just weighing on my body. I'm on my 2nd bottle of water. Water seems to really help me out thankfully. I'm very glad you had a good time with ERP and that you're doing well! I'm a lot better than I was yesterday and I also noticed that my obsessions can shift very quickly, regardless of how much they seem to bother me.
Im not sure if seasonal cough can develop later on but I don't see why not. Especially with how much hotter and humid it's been lately, the weather's always changing. Maybe you don't always need an answer though 😂 sounds annoying at most which is good, at least it's reminding you to stay hydrated. And im so glad !! I totally get it my OCD is the same. Some days the world will feel like it's ending and then the next day I'm totally fine, or focusing on a new obsession entirely. Back when my ROCD was bad I had a new obsession literally every day. OCD is draiiininggg.
I just hope I don't have something seriously wrong with me. I want it to go away and then I'll feel a lot better. It'll be one of many worries off my list. 😓 Yeah, you said it. Some days it's like I can't get out of the obsessions and it feels like there's no way out and other days feel tolerable. My themes switch up on me a lot too.
Health anxiety is a nightmare, I feel you. I hope it clears up on its own ♡ and if it does when the weather gets colder you'll know it's just a summer or seasonal issue most likely. I hope one day I can find a therapy and/or med combo that stabilizes my brain. I'm not gonna know what to do with myself once I feel actual peace.
I really hope so too! Yeah, health anxiety is really exhausting. I worry about my fatigue from time to time. I would like a therapist for the same things. Hopefully next month I can. It's very good to hear that you did ERP by yourself!! I have no idea for to start with that.
I am really suffering with health anxiety at the minute I am absolutely PETRIFIED of cancer and Im only 17 its draining the life out of me Ive had a cough / cold for two weeks now and ive felt itchy - Has anyone else ever just felt really itchy Im terrified in case I have cancer Im really really petrified I get so scared of death im really frightened SO frightened Im so so scared of the C. does anyone else get really sick like every 2-3 weeks. i dont know if its my anxiety but i always get really bad nausea flu type symptoms every few weeks and like headaches with sinus and ear issues but the doctor said everythings fine and ive been to ER like 3 times and they said everything’s perfect :(
Hey friends… I am in a really low place regarding my health anxiety. I am absolutely terrified of cancer. Im only 17 years old and im worrying more about health then living my life its very draining. At the moment I have a very chesty cough which has lasted around two weeks and a runny nose and just full sinuses. I woke up from my sleep tonight and woke up completely wet in sweat and itchy. I am terrified in case ive got cancer. I get so so scared It genuinely is not only affecting me but everyone else around me im pulling them down too. 💔 I am UK based and recently got a job and even then its all I can think about. Im crying my eyes out scared ☹️ To anyone else going through this your not alone and its so consuming. ❤️🩹
