@Nica Kind of misleading. There are people on here who will now latch onto this and believe they are depressed which will cause a whole other set of ocd complications. If you are aware of OCD symptoms, the disease is called the doubting disorder,so to put something on an ocd thread,with the words might/might not be is kind of anti therapeutic and may cause aomeone,like me,to look at this and think OMG I'm depressed because I'm irritable at times. Then cause that person to worry incessantly about depression for the next several days. Irritability is caused from numerous things, depression may be one of them but not sure this is the right place for that maybe/maybe not scenario

@JFull It’s not misleading because the vast majority of people with one or more mental illnesses have depression and it’s a very hard mental illness to deal with. Many think you have to be crying all the time or stuck in bed or sleep constnstly, and those are symptoms too. However, angry and irritability are also major symptoms too and should be looked at. I see it constantly and many also have depression on here; some don’t know it and others do but they do not account for anger and irritability as symptoms too. That’s why I shared the post by a professional, of which I do all the time. If someone latches onto possibly having or not having depression as an OCD theme, that is going to happen on a community tab for those that doomscroll and latch onto things. That will not prevent me from sharing stuff and helping others out.

@Nica In this case it’s definitely because OCD is screaming for my attention while I’m trying to live my life. I *was* actually diagnosed with mild depression upon starting therapy for my OCD. But that depression was a consequence of the OCD. I know I don’t have clinical depression. I always only show signs of it when I’m deep in OCD. The therapists confirmed this too. When I was a few weeks into ERP the depression symptoms improved immediately. I probably still have some tiny symptoms left like less interest in things that normally excite me (they overwhelm me atm) but the irritability definitely comes from my OCD. It might be helpful for people to know depression (like OCD) can manifest differently from the stereotypical image people have of it. So I understand why you’re sharing this. But just having anger and irritability also doesn’t automatically mean you have depression. It can be a sign of many psychological disorders and illnesses. Including depression. I’d recommend people to always consult a professional, preferably with knowledge of OCD, to get an official diagnosis.

@hen7 Yes, I’m aware of all that. I never said anywhere it’s *only* a sign of depression but one that you wouldn’t think is because of how it’s usually portrayed in films and other media. Therapy In A Nutshell also states this, so that’s why I shared the video. And as mentioned in other videos from her, multiple studies are now showing (and have for decades but have been suppressed for various reasons) that depression isn’t a chemical imbalance but bounces off other mental illnesses/environmental issues, so that’s why depression is so common and has similar symptoms and why there’s so many people that are worried that they might not have depression or be in a depressive state when they also have OCD. So, as you said, that’s why I shared the video and often share Therapy In A Nutshell videos. And though it saddens me to see this on here daily, the reality is there are a lot of people on here from countries that don’t have good or any mental health access, so I share whatever I can so they have at least something while others CAN get a diagnosis and get professional help. I wish it were the case that everyone can be helped by a professional, but for some, this app and recommendations on here could be all they’ll ever have.
