What helped you recover? Did you see an OCD specialist, regular therapist, or do it in your own?

I did CBT therapy back in April/May, and I am currently on Prozac 10 MG, I also see my therapist about every 3-4 weeks. But I’m all honestly, I did it on my own, and also I watched a LOT of Ali Greymond YouTube videos, she helped me a LOT through my recovery process!

Yeah I love her @Smurfette! She helped me a lot and taught me how to do self ERP with people observing me of course haha, because I unfortunately couldn’t afford it :/

I'm happy to see someone heal. The good thing is that even if you relapse, you already know what to do and you can recover (probably even more quickly than before).

Thanks so much for your insight, Progress ?. I'll keep your words in mind as I continue to practice some ERP techniques. A formal start to ERP may start as soon as next week when my therapist returns from vacation. (If I have to get a colonoscopy next week that may result in a delay because I don't want additional stressors when I start ERP.)

Recovery is a process and failure is an important part of any process as long as we learn from it and adjust

Deep down we all know that are past strategies have failed us over and over and over again. This is why you are where you are now. Wherever that may be. We need to change what we do in order to change the outcome. The answer must come from within. Not seeking reassurance never killed anyone. What have you got to lose?

@petehurta Are you the type that really needed reassurance? Like, did you have the feeling that you really needed reassurance or you would just go crazy? If so, in figuring out how OCD works did you find out that you never needed reassurance and that, in fact it was making you worse all along? The reason I am asking is because I am at the point of cutting off reassurance and I'm scared to do it. Maybe your successful experience will provide insight and give me the belief that not only can I live without reassurance but I will find out that it's been poison for me all along.
