@Nica Whatās weird is I wanted to comment to you and explain why logic doesnāt work lmao. Figured youād give me a good explanation. Also, Iāve used logic to overcome my OCD so thatās where Iām confused.

@Nica To be fair as well as much as a society needs to have order Iām not one to just believe everything someone with a piece of paper has is legit. From teachers, doctors, and therapists it doesnāt matter they have their certificate doesnāt mean they are actually qualified. However I will reiterate it doesnāt mean we should just not trust/believe anyone because there is obviously merit in that.

@Nica Just watched a short NOCD video why logic doesnāt work (couldnāt find Nathanās video on it specifically) and Iāve read about the logic argument before and it still makes no sense to me. And I stand by that it is not explained well why logic doesnāt work when all tips to combat OCD are logical. Everything Nathan even says is logical.

@JordTheNord Until you understand the treatments nothing seems logical. That said, I believe heās speaking to the way we fall into rumination. I mean whatās logical about a thought about hurting your buddy? When you try to break down why logic doesnāt work.

@Erick K Ohhh yes, the intrusive thoughts Iāve had⦠š as does everyone at sone point!

@Erick K BUT you just agreed the treatments are logical. Also, the intrusive thoughts are logical why we have them and or how they are caused. Also, itās logical why we fall into rumination. Everything makes sense and just because something doesnāt make sense at one point or we donāt see the sense in it YET doesnāt mean the sense doesnāt exist.

@Nica Replying to another comment I reread my first comment to this and saw that I might have misconstrued my message š so sorry if it was off pudding. But just to clarify is that I was going to just ask you ācan you explain why logic doesnāt workā and no matter what the response was even if I didnāt agree with it I know itāll be a good response. And then of course I finish with I have used logic to overcome mine thatās where Iām confused, that remains the same lol. So sorry if it came out a way because rereading I was like hmm I didnāt like how it sounded so Iām sorry if it did. šš»

@JordTheNord The treatments make sense when you understand doing compulsions in any way, shape, or form donāt work and only make things worse. Instead, you need to learn to let go of the need to control OCD and make it behave, stay present, and not interact with it. We as humans are used to trying to figure things out because we do have a rational side, but you canāt do that with intrusive thoughts, feelings, and urgesāthatās why they are intrusive. You might have a different idea of logic and that might be where youāre getting tripped up.

@Nica That all is logical to me š§. Understanding why humans have intrusive or irrational behavior is logical and understanding it we came up with all that is used in treatment. It just seems that logic would only be present once itās known but when ppl say they use logic it would depend on how and even if their ālogicā is valid in tackling said problem. Itās logical why we do compulsions. Also, logical on why they donāt work, long term anyway. I guess if Iām just not seeing it Iām not seeing it but everything that anybody has said on here that is useful even the plethora of useful knowledge you have given to ppl is logical. I guess an example from me would be is: itās logical to take a car to get form A to B. However more information is needed. Itās not logical to use a car if it has no gas. So certain parts of information, tactics, facts, wonāt work unless more are there to paint a clear picture and to include them i the problem. Itās not just simple. Itās based in context and all information is present which is hard. Which is why all of humans stumble, fall, make mistakes. But just because we donāt understand something or donāt āseeā it, it doesnāt mean itās not plausible. We need more parts to understand. Which is what all the tips are for. I hope that makes sense but again if Iām not getting it Iām not getting lol. Thank you though for explaining. Like I said you always give good responses š
